2017 Chateau de la Maltroye Bourgogne Blanc

SKU #1416137 Allen Meadows - Burghound

A smoky nose reveals notes of straw, ripe pear and plenty of petrol influence. There is both good vibrancy and solid volume to the delicious and focused flavors that conclude in a clean, dry and crisp finish that is quite refreshing. This nicely complex offer should drink well early and with a few years of bottle age on it. *Outstanding, Top Value* (6/2019)

Although the outside of the bottle looks nouveau, what's happening on the inside is definitely not. This is classic Bourgogne Blanc. There is beautiful concentration and complexity here, with notes of white flowers, pears, citrus,a kiss of oak and wonderfully luxurious texture. The acid here is very vibrant and the finish is perpetual. This is a fine, fine wine

This is hands down the best Bourgogne Blanc I've had this year. If tasted blind, it could very easily be mistaken for a Premier Cru Chassagne-Montrachet. Citrus, mineral, and subtle herb all join for maximum effect. Its bright acidity makes it a very quaffable wine, but give it some time in the glass, and a whole new array of flavors emerge. This is the very reason why I enjoy white Burgundy so much. For the price, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better rendition of Chardonnay. Maltroye has done an excellent job with their 2017s, starting with this exceptional Bourgogne Blanc.

This is a gorgeous white Burgundy that delivers far more depth and quality than its Bourgogne Blanc appellation would suggest. Beautiful aromas of white flowers, lemon zest, and subtle wood greet you on the nose. On the palate, the wine is round and firm with a great balance of fruit and acidity. and a long dry finish. Absolutely delicious!

This is a serious white wine for being just a Bourgogne Blanc. You can taste the pedigree here, tons of Chassagne-Montrachet character from the first sniff to the lasting finish this is a fantastic wine. Great acidity, boatloads of fruit and a boundless energy that literally leaps from the glass. This wine is exactly what you want from a Bourgogne Blanc.

A super value Bourgogne Blanc that expresses its uniqueness. This wine is elegant, crisp and well-structured. The 2017 is almost like a Great Chablis and shows chalky with a mineral quality. The wine is mouth-filling and full, with a smooth and supple finish.

A truly stellar effort from Maltroye, this Bourgogne Blanc possesses the verve, precision, and complexity that is seldom found at the village level. It offers Bosc pear and citrus on the nose and the theme continues into an expansive, rich, and weighty palate. Although its immensely appealing now there is no doubt that it will benefit from a few years of bottle age.
