The at the heart of the endeavor is an ethos that respects and supports the mutligenerational knowledge, independence, flavors, lands, and traditions of each mezcalero family. Also from Berta Vasquez, this blend of Tobala and Tobasiche agaves are matured for 10-12 years before harvest. Ground by a horse drawn tahona and distilled on copper alembique. Definitely one of the best "Agave Spirits," I've had the pleasure of tasting this year. This blend of Tobala and Tabasiche was sublime. The smell, taste, texture, and finish all received perfect marks in my book. The nose was soft and reminded me of a blue fruit punch juice box spiked with cucumber flesh and a light, sweet shiso (Japanese mint). The palate exploded with a briney, sweet, river water freshness with plenty of agave presence and a subtle herbaceous quality that only got sweeter as the spirit faded in the finish. If you're a mezcal-head this is a must-try bottle in my humble opinion.

The master Mezcalero, Berta Vasquez has shot herself to the top of my list with this bottling and her Mexicanito bottling. This blend is a tiny batch of just 225L and has one of the best texture profiles I've ever encountered. It's creamy, but has such intense flavors that creamy isn't quite right. There is a pine resin component that brings sweet sap to the earthy and vegetal nature of the spirit. There is a herb garden heavily planted to shisho and dill, soaking wet after a rain. Sweet cucumber comes to the foreground. It's a masterpiece.
