2015 Lilian Ladouys, St-Estèphe

SKU #1336628 92 points James Suckling

This a very linear and refined red with currant and lemon aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a bright finish. Shows focus and beauty. Elegant and long. (2/2018)

89-91 points Wine Enthusiast

Dry and firm, this is a structured wine. It has hints of dark chocolate with seriously dry tannins. The acidity at the end hints at fruitiness in the future. (RV) (4/2016)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2015 Lilian Ladouys replicated its performance from last year when I tasted it at the Cru Bourgeois tasting. It maintains those redcurrant and cranberry scents on the nose, with that Burgundian tincture. The palate is medium-bodied and sappy, although the structure on the finish suggests that it will require 3 to 5 years of bottle maturation. (NM) (2/2018)

This historic property underwent a renovation some years ago, consolidating the best parcels of vines grown on gravel and clay-limestone soils. This also involved a complete modernization of the production facilities and installation of over 1,000 select oak casks for optimal aging. A blend of roughly 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, revealing notes of cassis, cranberry, and dark chocolate, held together by complex tannins, this wine can be enjoyed now but will age for another decade.

A recent customer favorite in past vintages, this delicious year should continue this history. The lush 2015 vintage shows its influence with nice deep red fruit flavors that are balanced with subtle earth notes and a crisp finish. Although there is nice fruit, this is not a fruit bomb but a tasty wine that has all of the elements in place. It will go great with hearty foods.

If you’re searching for an amazing value from a top Left Bank commune, consider 2015 Lilian Ladouys. It has rich cherry and licorice notes with considerable power and structure from the tannins. This will undoubtedly age gracefully for at least another 20 years.

The bright red fruit nose has hints of citrus and a bit of cream de cacao. On the palate, more bright red fruits (as others have said, definite currant and cranberry), along with some dry herb notes and fine tannins. It takes a little time to come around on the finish but, with that time, you will be rewarded charming acidity.
