2016 Valle dell'Acate "Il Frappato" Frappato Vittoria

SKU #1332407 92 points James Suckling

A beautiful red with dried strawberry and citrus fruit undertones. Medium body, light tannins and a bright and fresh finish. I love the tangy and crisp acidity at the end. (10/2017)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

This is a wine I enjoy regularly at home because it delivers consistent, easy-drinking satisfaction at a good value price. The 2015 Vittoria Frappato Il Frappato is an elegant and streamlined wine that offers a pretty bouquet of wild berry, cranberry, herb and blue flowers. The Frappato grape is very influenced by the soils it is planted on. Valle dell'Acate has taken care to dedicate its vineyard plots with thin, sandy soils where the roots can extend far underground to this delicate variety. The grape delivers a good dose of natural acidity and you will notice that sourness on the finish. (ML) (8/2016)

90 points Wine & Spirits

Floral scents lead into a burst of fresh-strawberry and seedy-raspberry flavors that gain flesh with exposure to air. The wine is immediately appealing, especially with a light chill to accentuate its fresh acidity and lifted aromas. (6/2018)

90 points Wine Enthusiast

This bright and fragrant wine opens with red-skinned berry, rose petal and exotic spice aromas. It's juicy and savory, evoking strawberry, red cherry and clove on the palate, with silky tannins and fresh acidity providing lift. (KO) (10/2017)

Valle dell’Acate’s Frappato is just a joy to drink—it’s fresh, so full of fruit. It puts a smile on your face. Make sure you drink it at cellar temperature—it makes a lot of difference!

Made from grapes known also as Frappato di Vittoria, this wine is fragrant, fresh and bursting out, intense notes of cherries, blackberry and raspberry. The palate impression is bright and fresh, light but persistent; with small black and red fruits coating the mouth. Wonderful with all cheeses, it is equally at home when served with fish. Give a slight chill.
