2010 O'Shaughnessy Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

SKU #1140041 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Outer quote mark The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain covers every inch of the palate with layers of deep, rich, dark fruit. Blueberries, blackberries, violet and cloves seem to pop right out of the glass in this juicy, extroverted wine. Deceptively approachable, the 2010 has plenty of tannin lurking beneath its massive fruit. I would not be surprised if the 2010 shuts down in bottle. It is one of the deepest, inkiest 2010s I tasted from Howell Mountain. (AG) 96+ Inner quote mark (12/2012)

93 points Vinous

Outer quote mark Bright, dense ruby-red. Spectacular nose combines dark raspberry, plum, cocoa powder, saline minerality and nutty oak; the first of these vintages to show any real sign of development. Wonderfully tactile but more backward in the mouth than the nose suggests, with the element of saline minerality carrying through. (ST) 93+ Inner quote mark (4/2018)

K&L Notes

O'Shaughnessy's Howell Mountain estate vineyard was planted between 1997 and 2002 and it's beginning to show off its full potential. They grow intense, opulent, concentrated, dark purple colored fruit that's fleshy and sweet. It's rare for Howell Mountain wine to have such a fleshy, lush mid-palate of fruit combined with the typical power and concentration that you get from the region. Somehow, O’Shaughnessy always pulls this off. A tad bit of Merlot and Malbec are used in the blend but this wine is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon.
