2012 Schramsberg North Coast Brut Rosé Sparkling Wine (1.5L) ($79.95)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another big-time winner, and one of their larger cuvées of just over 9,000 cases is the 2012 Brut Rosé. This is a blend of 76% Pinot Noir and 24% Chardonnay, of which 33% was barrel fermented. This wine is ripe, broad, savory, shows tiny bubbles, comes across fresh with kirsch-like aromatics and flavors. It's dry, medium-bodied, zesty and exuberant. (RP)" (12/2015)

92 points Wine & Spirits: "Coppery pink, this is a floral, strawberry-scented rosé focused on pinot noir from Sonoma County. Theres dynamic freshness in the wines lemony acidity and the scents of strawberry leaves and bread dough. Those elements contrast sweeter notes of white peach and Rainier cherries. Its clean and lasting, refreshing in the end." (12/2018)

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A bright copper color and citrus aromas are followed by tart cherry and pink-grapefruit flavors in this fruity and crisply balanced wine that is a late release in magnum only. It has a refreshing, vibrant mouthfeel and clean finish and an unusually strong stream of bubbles that keeps going 30 minutes after pouring. *Cellar Selection* (JG)" (12/2018)

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A lovely and delicate nose is comprised by notes of strawberry, raspberry, cherry and apple that are liberally laced with yeast nuances. The delicacy of the nose is complemented by the lilting and elegant flavors that possess good delineation and where the sense of refinement is enhanced by the relatively fine mousse, all wrapped in a dry, yeasty and refreshing finish. This is an excellent rosé and while it could certainly be aged to good effect, it is all but irresistible now." (10/2015)

K&L Notes: 94 points, Tasting Panel: "Aged entirely in the bottle, where it also spends five and a half years on the lees, this wine has a remarkable mouthfeel. Pinot Noir (76%) is grown in Carneros in the Anderson Valley, as well as the coastal regions of Marin and Sonoma; the remaining balance of 24% Chardonnay adds spice and length. Bubbles gently caress alongside an almost invisible toastiness made strikingly refined with fresh and fragrant notes of peach, orange blossom, cherry skin, and raspberry."

What a bottle for the holidays! A special release magnum with extended time on the lees (5 1/2 years). Bright, juicy red berry hints, crisp orchard fruit flavors, dry and finely structured bubbles. Mouthwatering and fresh, with subtle toasty hints on the finish. Such an amazing value for a large format bottle of this quality. Sure to impress at a big family Thanksgiving!

I've always considered Schramsberg to be the closest style to Champagne you can get in the USA for sparkling wine. Super crisp, clean, and vibrant, this is a wonder given this wine is now 7 years old. This winery has always put an incredible amount of hand labor into their wines and the perfect balance this one displays is evidence of that hard work. This is perfect accompaniment to your holiday table, whether as an appertif or paired with dinner. Even as a magnum, I know this one wouldn't last long at my house.
