2015 Robert Craig Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $90) ($69.99)

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain offers a classic Mountain fruit profile with its complex aromatics and fresh, focused, chiseled and structured style on the palate. Mulberries, incense, exotic flowers, and spice all leap from the glass of this inky colored Cabernet Sauvignon, and its medium to full-bodied, structured and vibrant on the palate. Brought up in 80% new French oak, it has loads of potential but needs 2-4 years of bottle age. 94+" (12/2017)

93 points Vinous: "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (Spring Mountain) is sensual, plush and inviting. It is also the softest and most open-knit of these 2015 Cabernets from Robert Craig. Soft tannins and succulent, red-toned fruit add to the wine's gracious, alluring personality. Super-ripe red cherry and plum fruit are pushed forward, with hints of sweet French oak, kirsch, vanillin and spice that add shades of complexity. (AG)" (03/2018)

Coming from steep slopes on the Mayacamas Mountain Range, this is a high elevation wine (around 2000 ft), which gives it a ton of character. Picked at low yields (2.1 tons/acre), this is a nice medium weight Cab Sauv which shows a little spicy and crunchy with dark red fruits dominating. The elevation and angle of the slopes causes the vines to struggle and they certainly inject a lot of flavor into their small berries. Blueberry, plum, and cassis show elegantly and the finish is long.

Explosive wine from Robert Craig - the nose shows intense blue / black fruit: cassis, huckleberry, redcurrant, cedar, bramble and fresh tobacco leaf. Medium plus to full bodied, but not sweet. Refined mountain fruit tannin, structured but not astringent. Opens with air, it's drinking beautifully already but 10-15 years of longevity seems comfortable. Sharp price here.

Rhum Clement "Grass Skirt Exclusive" Single Barrel Agricole Martinique Rum (750ml) ($34.96)

This delicious single barrel AOC Agricole Rhum was bottled exclusively for the wonderful Grass Skirt Tiki & Pupu's bar in San Diego. Amazingly we got a hold of the last bits of the cask at a very reasonable price. This is a blend of multiple varieties of cane distilled exclusively on the traditional all copper Clement column still at Rhumerie du Simon, the home of the Clement Rhum brand. This special spirit comes from Martiniques most technologically advanced, but by no means should be considered industrial. This delicious rhum was aged four long years in the hot humid conditions on the Clement Estate. Even in ex-bourbon barrels, plenty of dense oak spice has been extracted from this barrel and integrates beautifully with the heady funk of the cane spirit. Bottled at a lovely 88.8 proof this single cask is an absolute steal considering these are usually meant to retail for upward of $50. This is the perfect option for those looking for nicely matured Agricole without breaking the bank and stands up better in cocktails than similar younger and lower proof offerings from various competitors and Clement's own offerings. It's unlikely we'll ever have quite such a good deal on Agricole rhum again, but we'd be happy to sell this wonderful rhum for $50 if you want more! Fewer than 150 bottles available, so home bartenders and professionals take note of this unique oppurtunity.

McKenzie Pure Pot Still Whiskey (750ml) (Elsewhere $40) ($24.99)

From Richard Thomas: "McKenzie Pure Pot Still Whiskey has no additives, is not chill-filtered, and comes bottled at 40% abv. Although the label bears no aging statement, the constituent whiskeys in the blend are aged for a little over two years. The packaging is typical of the McKenzie line: a fat, pot still-shaped clear glass bottle with a label design reminiscent of an Old West saloon, and topped by a plastic, copper-colored stopper with an artificial cork. In the glass, the whiskey has clear pale gold coloring. Taking in the nose, I found it oddly crisp and leathery at the same time, the former coming from the coppery tinge. There is a sweet apples and pears side to the scent, along with a slight oaky note. On the palate, the whiskey has a lovely, silky texture. It has that malty, grainy kind of sweetness (not so apple-ish anymore), along with notes of caramel and oak, and sometimes I thought just a bit of fresh pine as well. The finish starts from the neutral, silky texture of the whiskey, taking its time and trailing off into a moderate, slightly peppery warmth."
