A 96-Point White Burgundy for Under $15—A Top Value for 2019 - 11/04/2019 - White Burgundy

Rated 96 points and priced at a mere $14.99, the 2017 Bicheron Mâcon-Péronne is easily among the sharpest values in white Burgundy going. Based on Decanter’s massive score and glowing review, we knew we had to try a bottle. As we expected, the wine is nothing short of phenomenal. A classic Burgundy from start to finish, it graces the palate with bright fruit, laser-like acidity, chalky minerality, and a subtle undercurrent of savory herb. Its fresh and youthful approach make it an excellent candidate for early drinking, but there’s enough going on here to warrant five or more years in the cellar. Pretty impressive for a wine that will only set you back $14.99. While Domaine du Bicheron may be new to many, it is responsible for some of the best values we’ve seen in recent years. With the prices of Burgundy ever on the rise, it’s always refreshing to find a producer that cuts against this trend. A great bottle for the holidays, this 2017 is also a perfect candidate for your next house pour. Values this good always sell in a flash, so don’t miss out on this remarkable find.

96 points Decanter: "100% Chardonnay Tasting notes: An explosive core of zesty lemon grapefruit with a touch of orange blossom, fine oatmeal and a stunning stony minerality. Remarkably fresh and succulent with an enhanced saline finish. *Gold Medal Winner Decanter World Wine Awards 2019*" (06/2019)

I am loving the white Burgundy values that have been rolling in. Our last value-driven offering flew out of all K&L locations but fear not - our buyer has this one lined up and ready to purchase. This is absolutely delicious with notes of bright citrus and green apple, it's mineral-driven and exceptionally fresh. Rent a u-haul and fill it up before I drink all of this one too.

Another incredible value! Fresh apples, orchard fruits and saline aromas with a vibrant palate of spiced apples, lemon zest, citrus oil and hazelnut flavors. The finish is long and smooth with layer-upon-layer of fruit unfurling till the very end.

Beautifully floral, this lovely little wine immediately pulls you in with one of the most expressive noses at this kind of price point. Immediately I pick up notes of stone and orchard fruit with a hint of orange candy and light cream. The palate opens with crunchy apples and a slight note of petrol which bring thoughts of Riesling without the peach. I taste the minerality more towards the back end as the acid makes your mouth water. If you blinded me and asked me to guess the price of this, I would easily overbid by a good margin!

Aromatically expressive this pretty little Macon captures your attention immediately with white flower aromas like orange and lemon blossoms, then on the palate it bursts with deep flavors of orchard fruit like Mirabelle plum, Asian pear and Golden Delicious apple, with lovely hints of slightly toasted hazelnuts. It's traditional, easy to drink Macon wine, supple and textured, yet fresh and vibrant.
