2015 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "As good as Hermitage can get, the 2015 Hermitage from Jean-Louis Chave reminds me of a hypothetical mix of the 2010 and 1990 with its incredible purity, finesse, and elegant paired with awesome depth and structure. This heavenly wine exhibits a deep purple color as well as a powerful bouquet of crème de cassis, blackberries, dried violets, graphite, and crushed rocks, with a liquid mineral component that’s just about impossible to find outside of the Bessards lieu-dit in Hermitage. Full-bodied and massively concentrated on the pa ...

2014 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge

95-97 points Vinous: "Tasted in components: #1, from Peleat: Vibrant red and dark berry character, along with intense floral and mineral nuances and silky texture. #2, from Beaume: Heady, smoke- and spice- accented dark berry and floral pastille qualities, plus a round, supple texture and repeating floral character on the back half. #3, from l'Ermite: More structured and powerful, showing intense dark fruit character and notes of olive and licorice that build with air. #4, from Le Méal: Exotic spices and candied flowers on the nose, along with bright red ...

2016 Ferraton Pere et Fils "Le Méal" Ermitage Rouge (Pre-Arrival)

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Lastly, the 2016 Ermitage Le Méal is the top wine from Ferraton, and rightly so, as it’s a magical wine in 2016. Rocking notes of black raspberries, blackberries, toasted spices, tapenade, and dry aged beef all emerge from the glass, and it hits the palate with a wealth of material yet stays balanced, layered, and seamless. It's a sensational wine that's up with the top wines of the vintage. Hats off to the team at Ferraton for this remarkable wine as well as their full lineup of wines in 2016." (12/2018) 96 points Decanter: "A ...

2017 Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné "La Chapelle" Hermitage (Pre-Arrival)

97-99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In need of serious air to open up, the 2017 Hermitage La Chapelle became more and more impressive the longer I kept it in the glass. At first it seemed a bit simple, if admirably plummy and rich, but by the time ten minutes had elapsed, it was showing off elegant notes of crushed stone, pencil shavings and cassis, while remaining full-bodied, rich and concentrated. It's velvety and long on the finish, but something left me wanting a bit more. It's surely a great La Chapelle, but will it reach that elusive trip ...

2016 M. Chapoutier "Les Varonniers" Crozes-Hermitage

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "On another level, the inky colored 2016 Crozes-Ermitage Les Varonniers comes from the granite hillside just beside Hermitage hill and is more Hermitage than Crozes. It has a huge nose of currants, smoked earth, graphite, pepper, and cured meats. This carries to a rich, powerful Crozes that has a real sense of minerality, beautiful mid-palate depth, ripe, present tannins, and a great, great finish. Aged 18 months in 20% new French oak (a mix of Burgundy barrels and demi-muids), it has two decades or more of longevity ahead of it." ...

2017 Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné "Domaine de Thalabert" Crozes-Hermitage (Pre-Arrival)

94-96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "From a scorcher of a vintage that had tiny yields, the 2017 Crozes Hermitage Domaine De Thalabert offers a deep purple color as well as a classic Thalabert bouquet of black fruits, black olive, iodine, and peppery herbs. It’s a rich, rounded, sumptuous beauty that has plenty of sweet fruit, moderate tannins, and a great finish. It’s not going to match the 2015, but it’s a rocking wine I’d be thrilled to drink." (12/2018) 93-94 points Vinous: "Youthful purple color. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe blackcurrant, blueberry ...

New!
2017 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes-Hermitage Blanc "La Mule Blanche" (Pre-Arrival)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A barrel-fermented blend of 50% Marsanne and 50% Roussanne, the 2017 Crozes Hermitage Domaine Mule Blanche is a terrific example of what those varieties can do when they're grown in the right location and vinified with care. Gentle toasted grain scents waft from the glass, along with notes of marshmallow and melon. It's full-bodied and richly textured, with notes of pineapple, crème brûlée and citrus on the long finish.(JC)" (10/2018) 92 points Jeb Dunnuck: "From the Thalabert estate, which is mostly rolled sto ...

New!
2017 Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné "Maison Bleue" Hermitage (Pre-Arrival)

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Full-bodied, creamy and supple, the 2017 Hermitage La Maison Bleue looks to be a thrilling Hermitage to drink over the next 10-15 years. It's loaded with mixed blueberries and raspberries, adds subtle notes of mocha and baking spices and picks up a savory hint of black olives on the long, silky finish. Don't make the mistake of thinking only the La Chapelle is worth drinking, this should be a real beauty when it's released next year.(JC)" (10/2018) 93-94 points Vinous: "Opaque ruby. Vibrant, sharply focused ...

2015 Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aine "La Chapelle" Hermitage 6-Pack (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Lastly, and a legendary wine in the making, the 2015 Hermitage La Chapelle is reminiscent of the 1990 with its full-bodied, opulently, sexy, yet concentrated style. Offering sensational notes of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, beef blood, and chocolate, it’s a huge yet elegant wine that has masses of sweet tannin, incredible purity and finesse, and a killer finish. It’s the finest wine from this estate in close to 30 years. Hats off to Caroline Fray and Jacques Desvernois!" (01/2018) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2 ...
