2018 Diatom "Bar-M" Los Alamos Chardonnay
Top Pick!
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Chardonnay Bar-M has an open nose of quince, warm hay, green apple and pear, baker’s yeast, acacia and dried chamomile with white peach and nectarine plus hints of lime peel and crushed stone. Light to medium-bodied, it has a wonderful core of spicy fruit and wicked minerality in the mouth, amplified by juicy freshness and a long, energetic, layered finish. Yum! (EB)" (09/2019) 93 points Vinous: "From a site in Los Alamos, the 2017 Chardonnay Bar M is perfumed, lifted and wonderfully gracious in feel. ...

2015 Dierberg Estate "Dierberg Vineyard" Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir (Elsewhere $45) (Elsewhere $45)
Top Pick!
94 points Vinous: "The 2015 Pinot Noir Dierberg Vineyard is a real standout. Plush, dark and expressive, the Dierberg is an explosive wine that shows this Santa Maria site off at its best. Floral and spiced notes wrap around a core of intense inky blue/purplish fruit. Time in the glass brings out a more delicate side. There is just so much to admire in the 2015. (AG)" (09/2018) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Baked black-cherry and plum aromas meet with star anise, hot gingerbread and wet slate on the fairly opulent, very delicious nose of this bottling. I...

94 points Vinous: "The 2016 Chardonnay Solomon Hills is fabulous. Creamy and resonant on the palate, with terrific freshness, the 2016 is a wonderfully complete wine that will drink well right out of the gate. Lemon oil, mint and white pepper all develop in the glass. Above all else, the Solomon Hills Chardonnay manages to be both texturally expansive and also incredibly elegant. It has been terrific in two recent tastings. (AG)" (09/2018) K&L Notes: Winemaker's Notes: "Exotic aromas of lemon verbena, oysters, iodine, and wet rock on the nose. The flav...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a stellar wine, especially considering it is simply the family's appellation blend. Aromas of crisp black raspberry, thyme, sagebrush and mint provide tremendous depth on the nose. The palate is lively, elegant and very smooth, showing white pepper, cedar and more black-raspberry flavors. *Editor's Choice* (MK)" (10/2018) 92 points Vinous: "The 2016 Pinot Noir is fabulous. Bright, floral and lifted, with striking fruit presence, the 2016 Pinot delivers serious quality for the money. Bright red and purplish stone frui...

93 points Vinous: "The 2017 Chenin Blanc is one of the most expressive wines in the Lieu Dit range. Perfumed, generous and inviting, the 2017 has so much to offer. The Chenin emerges from Happy Canyon Vineyard, where the first Chenin was planted in an appellation that is better known for its Bordeaux varieties. Justin Willett fermented the 2017 in stainless steel and aged the wine in neutral oak. (AG)" (09/2018) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Chenin Blanc features scents of baker's yeast, cheese rind, toast, candle wax and smoke/gun...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "The fascinating nose of this bottling is driven by wet stone, yet it also touches on orange rinds, fresh chives, lemongrass balm and a nearly basil-like aromatic without the green spice. It's lively on the palate with flint and crushed stone, showing very fresh and acid-driven flavors of lemon and ash, riding a firm tension through the sip. (MK)" (07/2019) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Chardonnay Dierberg Vineyard, aged 15 months in 20% new oak, has a nose of honey toast, baked golden apple, wet hay, ear...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 46% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 20 Mourvèdre and 4% Cinsault, the 2014 Verbiage was my favorite of these reds from Tercero, wafting from the glass with notes of Provençal herbs, sweet berries, dried cherry, cassis, grilled meat and spice that nod to the Southern Rhône. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, supple and seamless with a succulent core of fruit, velvety tannins and a long, sapid finish. It's a nicely balanced, characterful and keenly priced red that should drink well for the better part of a d...

New!
92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Fresh aromas of lemongrass, lime zest, jasmine and guava lean toward tropical on the nose of this bottling. The palate is crisp with honeysuckle, jasmine and plumeria flavors, bound by a sharper lemon-rind component that hold the floral touches in check. (MK)" (08/2019) 91 points Vinous: "The 2017 Chardonnay Estate is gorgeous, not to mention a superb value. Tangerine, mint, yellow orchard fruit, vanillin, buttery notes and a hint of new oak add nuance. The 2017 is generous and oily in feel, yet retains terrific freshness. A...

93 points Vinous: "Foxen's 2017 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard Block UU is creamy, supple and expressive, with striking depth and nuance. In 2017, the Block UU has an extra kick of texture that is hugely appealing. Lemon confit, orchard fruit and chamomile all grace this compelling and wonderfully inviting Chardonnay from Foxen. Tercero is dedicated to small lot, hand crafted wines from vineyards throughout Santa Barbara County. Winery note: "This is my 4th release of one of my favorite wines to make, and this one is as good if not better than all of my previous releases. This wine is a blend of 40% Cinsault, 40% Grenache, and 20% Carignane. Each component was brought in separately, aggressively foot stomped, fermented, then pressed off and combined into one stainless tank for aging for about 3 months. Yep, it saw no oak whatsoever. The subsequent wine is bright and fresh and ‘c...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Toasty aromas of seared lemon, citrus pith and ashy Brie rind show on the nose of this bottling from the longtime grape-growing family. The palate is extremely focused and sharp, offering lime sorbet, green pear and more pithy qualities, wrapped in a compellingly grippy texture. (MK) " (12/2018) 90 points Vinous: "The 2015 Chardonnay Estate (Sta. Rita Hills) has developed a good bit of flavor complexity over the last year. More bay leaf and pine needle show on the herbally full and texturally grippy palate, giving minty spice to the dark fruit flavors. (MK)" (12/2017) 92 points Vinous: "The 2015 Pinot Noir Dierberg is done in a relatively juicy style for the year. There is immense grip to the sip, where crisp strawberry flavors met with a lemon-lime soda kick. (MK)" (08/2019) K&L Notes: The "Para Maria" label is a 50-50 partnership between the Stolpman (owners) and Solorzano (growers) families. 93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Pinot Noir Estate is the larger production red from this team, yet it certainly gives a good view into the quality coming from the Hilt wines. Black cherries, black raspberries, graphite, peppery herbs, and underbrush notes flow to a medium-bodied, supple, beautifully layered Pinot Noir that has ripe, present tannins, plenty of mid-palate flesh, and remarkable purity. Drink it any time over the coming 7-8 years." (10/2018) 91 points Vinous: "The 2016 Pinot Noir Estate is a powerful, dense wine. Today, the tannins are hu...

There's a pencil shaving touch to the sip, which is a tad riper than expected, with mouth-watering lemon cake and cream flavors. (MK)" (12/2017) 87-90 points Vinous: "The 2015 Chardonnay Dierberg offers lovely focus and energy to match its mid-weight, gracious personality. The flavors are nicely sculpted in this understated Santa Maria Chardonnay. Winemaker Ariki H...

95 points Vinous: "As is the case with the Old Guard, the 2016 Pinot Noir Vanguard is relatively buttoned up and less exuberant than it can be. And that is just fine. A powerful, resonant wine, the 2016 exudes intensity and structure, all in a compelling package that has so much to offer. Readers will have to give the 2016 at least a few years to come into its own, but it is positively stellar. The rich, resonant finish makes the 2016 nearly impossible to resist, even at this early stage. (AG)" (09/2018) 94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Similarly colored, the 2...

It has a clean, pure bouquet of green citrus, honeysuckle, and hints of spice to go with a rounded, layered, impeccably balanced, seamless white. It's racy and vibrant, yet has solid texture and is, again, beautifully balanced." (10/2019) K&L Notes: The folks at Deovlet are dedicated to creating a seamless balance between varietal and terrior, with minimal intervention during the winemaking process.
