2017 Domaine Dugois Ploussard "La Sombarde" Arbois Rouge

Ploussard/Poulsard is a red-skinned French grape variety that is a specialty of Arbois in northern Jura. Thin skins and pale coloring are the most obvious traits of Poulsard, while the delicate perfumes are what will be surprising. This is a wine of great finesse! Winery note: "The color is ruby ??with sometimes orange highlights. A light, fruity and light wine, with aromas of strawberry and raspberry, smoked, sweet spice. Balanced and fruity mouth with a beautiful aromatic expression."

2018 Veronique Anne Perret Vin de Savoie Apremont

Founded in 1927 in the village of Jongieux, the Perret family has worked with many of the same seasoned growers for four generations. The wine is 100% Jacquere, a rather productive grape, that benefits from being planted on the depleted soils of the region which limit its growth. The wine is the pure essence of the region, with its crystaline focus and vibrant nose of yellow apples, lemongrass and crushed limestone.

Spontaneous fermentation - an altogether preferable scenario to spontaneous combustion, and A LOT more fun to drink. This pink, semi-dry bubbly was made by spontaneous fermentation, otherwise known as méthode ancestrale. 2015 Domaine Baud Chardonnay l'Etoile Blanc (Previously $20)

The Baud family's history in the Jura dates back to 1742, and the ninth generation currently manages 24 hectares of vineyards. The l'Etoile Blanc is 100% Chardonnay and the vineyard has been certified as sustainable with Terra Vitis since 2014. Fermentation takes place in tank followed by about 20 months of barrel aging. The winery describes the wine has having a light yellow and green color with aromas of nuts and a full texture accompanied by an "astonishing long lasting taste."

2016 Domaine des Carlines Savagnin "En Beaumont" Côtes du Jura Blanc (Previously $35)

This is the new Jura project of Patrick Ligeron and 2016 is just the second vintage for this house. 100% Savagnin, this has flavors of ripe fruits like apricot and apples with a touch of ripe citrus fruits and pepper. This is rich, yet powerful with a beautiful balance and could be kept at least 10 years. It pairs well with fish, white meat with creamy sauces, and cheeses such as Comté, Morbier and Mont d’Or.
