2007 Peay Vineyards "Les Titans" Estate Sonoma Coast Syrah

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky violet. Powerful aromas of crushed blackcurrant, violet, black pepper and olive. Lush and sappy, with deeply concentrated black and blue fruit and spice flavors energized by smoky minerality. Nothing thick or heavy about this wine, which packs a real punch. Finishes with enticing spicy lift and very good persistence. This should be even better with a bit of bottle age. " (06/2010)

2007 Peay Vineyards "La Bruma Estate" Sonoma Coast Syrah

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Very classy and elegant, the 2007 Peay Vineyards Syrah La Bruma sports captivating aromatics of raw beef, freshly cracked peppercorns, cedar, violets and underbrush, all wrapped around a vibrant core of beautiful, cool climate, Syrah fruit. Medium bodied, pure and focused on the palate, this has a brilliantly textured mid-palate, racy acidity, and a clean, long finish. Simply a superb example of what Syrah can do in the right place; this should easily drink well for 10 to 12 years. (JebDunnuck.com)" (11/2010) 93 points Stephen T ...

2007 Nickel & Nickel "Darien Vineyard" Russian River Valley Syrah

This 2007 Darien Vineyard Syrah has abundant plum and sweet berry fruit nestled amongst spice and smoke from the oak. Hints of mineral and meat, characteristic of the varietal, complement the fruit. A bit richer than past vintages, this wine has a polished and smooth middle palate with sweet tannins that round out the finish. This excellent progression of fruit, spice, toast and meat continuing into a long, supple finish has become the signature of this vineyard. According to Wine Spectator: "Tightly wound, firm and spicy, featuring mineral, sage, dried ...

2007 Shafer "Relentless" Napa Valley Syrah

96 points Connoisseurs Guide: "It is no exaggeration to say the 2007 version may just be the best Relentless to date, but even if not, it is a deep and formidable wine by any standard. Its inky appearance correctly implies a wine of great weight and extract, but, what separates this bottling from its equally well-filled predecessors is its terrific sense of structure and balance. It is tough to be sure, but it never lets go of its plentiful, peppery, blackberry fruit, and it will not come close to showing its best until at least another decade has passed ...

2007 Copain "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a superb site, the blockbuster 2007 Syrah James Berry Vineyard boasts an opaque purple color in addition to extraordinary aromas of creme de cassis, subtle smoke, blackberries, pepper, and bouquet garni, a fabulous texture, and a finish that lasts for 50+ seconds. (RP)" (02/2010) 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Glass-staining ruby. Vibrant red and blue fruit aromas are complicated by Asian spices, smoky minerals and potpourri. Strikingly sweet, with nervy raspberry and boysenberry fl ...

2007 Radio-Coteau "Terra Neuma" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Pinot Noir Terra Neuma has sweet black cherry and forest floor notes in its very complex, fragrant aromatics. In the mouth, it is medium to full-bodied, deep, velvety textured, and broad, with a hint of fresh porcini mushrooms intermixed with blue and red fruits, damp earth, and underbrush. This is a beauty to drink over the next decade. (RP) An artisanal winery run with meticulous attention to detail by Eric Sussman, Radio-Coteau continues to follow a fair pricing strategy for its high quality Chardonna ...

2007 Domaine Michel & Stéphane Ogier "Lancement" Côte-Rôtie

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A 100% Syrah aged in 50% new French oak, the 2007 Cote Rotie Lancement Cote Blonde is a prodigious wine that flirts with perfection. It offers up notes of bacon fat, tapenade, sweet cassis and black raspberries, graphite and subtle barbecue smoke. Opulent, fleshy and rich, it is a total hedonistic and intellectual turn-on. Drink it over the next 12-15 years. One of France’s most brilliant small artisanal wineries is that of the Ogier family in Ampuis, situated about six blocks north of Guigal’s vast network of un ...

2007 La Sirena "Barrett Vineyard" Napa Valley Syrah

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Syrah tries to strike a balance between rich opulence and controlled elegance, and it largely succeeds. It's has exquisite tannins and fine acidity, finishing bone dry. The flavors are complex, immediately suggesting ripe blackberries, with notes of beef tartare, grilled wild mushrooms splashed with tamari, black pepper and minerals. You can draw analogies to the northern Rhône if you want. Will it age? Hard to say, but it's a great wine now. " (10/2012) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Syrah Barrett V ...

2007 Red Car "The Fight-Knockout!" California Syrah (1.5L) (Previously $100)

92 points Wine Spectator: "Very distinctive, intense, spicy and aromatic, with scorched rock, dried berry, tobacco, cedar and savory herb flavors that fan out on the palate, maintaining a very tight focus on the long, persistent finish. (JL)" (02/2010) 90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "By contrast to the wines above, this one is a bit blockier and on the fleshy, full-bodied, somewhat heavy side. It leaves very little behind in its search for depth and concentration, and it succeeds in the quest, and thus seems directed towards a different set of Syrah buy ...

2007 Charles Smith "Skull" Royal Slope Columbia Valley Syrah
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Charles Smith "Skull" Royal Slope Columbia Valley Syrah (98RP, 97WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Skull is also from the Stone Ridge Vineyard in the Royal Slope. It was aged in 20% new oak with some stems. It is a more brooding effort with aromas of earth, underbrush, truffle, Asian spices, incense, and blueberry. It is slightly more structured with a bit more density and richness. Give it 6-8 years of additional bottle age and drink it from 2017 to 2032. (JM)" (08/2010)

Readers looking for different aromatic and tasting experiences should check out Copain’s 2007 and 2008 Roussannes." (02/2010) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Opulent on the palate, this glossy Shiraz has serious depth of flavor, great concentration, excellent integration of oak, tannin, and acidity, and a pure, silky finish. (JM)" (02/2009)

2007 Sine Qua Non "Labels" California Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Sine Qua Non "Labels" California Syrah (98RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The recently released 2007 Syrah Labels (89% Syrah, 7% Grenache, and 4% Viognier) comes from the 11 Confessions Estate Vineyard (57%), a small amount from the home estate vineyard in Oak View called Cumulus, and the rest from purchased fruit grown in the White Hawk Vineyard in Los Alamos and the Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria. A sensational effort, it is performing even better out of bottle than it did from barrel. An opaque purple color is accompanied by beautiful notes of charcoal, acacia flowers, blueberries, blackberries, graphite, and subtle smoke. With great fruit, tremendous texture, and full-bodied power, it is locked and loaded. This cuvee should provide great drinking in addition to some provocative discussions over the next 10-15 years.
