2014 Schiavenza "Cerretta" Barolo (Previously $55)

92 points Wine Spectator: "A linear, racy style, whose complex cherry, plum, underbrush, tar and mineral flavors are fused to its dense tannins. Though compact and monolithic today, everything is in the correct proportions. Best from 2023 through 2040. (BS)" (02/2019) K&L Notes: Antonio Galloni writes: "I was very happy to have an opportunity to taste these wines from Schiavenza … the tannins are remarkably polished for young Serralunga Barolos, something that was rarely, if ever, the case here in the past."

2007 Roberto Voerzio "La Serra" Barolo

100 points James Suckling: " Roberto Voerzio’s Barolos usually number just a few hundred cases. One of his best comes from the vineyard of La Serra, which was a knockout in the ripe vintage of 2007. It has such depth of fruit and power. Ripe tannins. A perfect wine. " (05/2014) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Voerzio’s 2007 Barolo La Serra is off the charts. This is an unusually dark, imposing La Serra bursting with notable intensity in its dark red fruit wrapped around a firm wall of tannin. At times open and perfumed, at others muscular and ...

2010 Paolo Conterno "Ginestra" Barolo Riserva (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Paolo Conterno "Ginestra" Barolo Riserva (OWC - 97JS, 97RP, (93-96VN), 92WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Wow, this is really quite a wine. The 2010 Barolo Riserva Ginestra is guided by three lucky stars: First, it is made by an excellent producer. Second, it comes from an excellent vintage. And third, it comes from an excellent vineyard site. This is a stunning achievement that is teeming with life, intensity, elegance, pedigree and sheer excitement. The bouquet achieves impressive balance with fruit, spice, mineral and tertiary tones that are all played forward with equal intensity. There is a spot of sweetness on the close (with 15% alcohol) that adds to the volume and fullness of the mouthfeel. This wine merits a special place at the back of your cellar where it can age undisturbed for the next decade or two. (ML)" (09/2018)

2011 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo (94RP, 94WE, 93DC, 93VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Barolo is a very expressive wine with more determination and muscle than you usually get in the wines of Bartolo Mascarello. The bouquet opens to plush flavors of red fruit and cherry with grilled herb, tobacco and mineral delineation. Its structure is yielding and round and the finish is ripe with soft fruit flavors. Make no mistake, it doles out complexity and an ethereal sense of balsam herb, cola and licorice that is the hallmark of this historic estate with a tiny garage winery in the town of Barolo. The alcohol reading here is 14.5% compared to 14% in the 2010 vintage. The Bartolo Mascarello winery continues faithfully in its long-standing promise of delivering classic expressions of Nebbiolo in its purest form. (ML)" (06/2015)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo (95WE, 94RP, 94VN, 93ST, 92WS). Wine Enthusiast: "This producer has made an outstanding Barolo 2009—no easy feat in this vintage. This bottling is made from top vineyards in Barolo and La Morra. It has a gorgeous bouquet of rose, leather and a whiff of tar. The palate delivers a hint of carob, spice and succulent black cherry notes. Impeccably balanced, this is elegant and complex. A textbook Barolo. *Cellar Selection* (KO)" (09/2013)

2007 Giuseppe e Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Giuseppe e Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo (97RP, 96WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Monprivato is stunningly beautiful. Monprivato is seldom this rich when it is young. It is most often intensely aromatic, mid-weight and frequently out of balance, especially right after bottling. The 2007 is none of those things. It is a rich, dramatic wine endowed with tons of fruit and a sweeping, enveloping personality. It is also primary and at the beginning of what is likely to be a long, long life. Despite its seeming fragility, Monprivato is one of the most long-lived of all Baroli, even in its weakest vintages. Drink from 2017-2037 (AG)" (10/2011)

2010 Domenico Clerico "Pajana" Barolo
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Domenico Clerico "Pajana" Barolo (94ST, 94W&S, 93JS, 93RP, 93WS, 90WE). Wine & Spirits: "The 7.5 acres of nebbiolo vines that Domenico Clerico farms in Pajana, a cru in Ginestra, Monforte d’Alba, date to 1965 and 1970. He produces this wine in rotofermenters and ages it in French oak barriques (80 percent new) for 24 to 30 months. So you might expect it to be massive, but you might not expect the underlying energy of the 2010 vintage that drives it, or the delicacy of the bright, violet-scented fruit. While powerful oak tannins dry the mouth, the fruit rejuices it—fresh black fruit touching on anise and truffles. It’s finely integrated and built for long aging." (12/2014)

2007 Cappellano "Otin Fiorin - Piè Rupestris" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Cappellano "Otin Fiorin - Piè Rupestris" Barolo. Vinous: "Ample, deep and exquisitely layered, the Barolo Otin Fiorin Piè Franco-Michet is the most showy of the six wines in this first flight. The natural richness of the vintage is tempered by a classic expression of structure. An exotic mélange of dark cherry, plum, smoke and licorice build into the huge, explosive finish. What a wine! As good – not great – as the 2007 is, it is also nowhere near being ready to drink. (AG)" (05/2017)

2007 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate - Le Coste" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate - Le Coste" Barolo (96RP, 96WS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Brunate-Le Coste is a regal, aristocratic Barolo. Firm tannins keep some of the extroverted qualities of the vintage in check. This shows marvelous inner minerality and coolness, with deep layers of fruit, menthol, licorice and tar that fill out the wine’s broad shouldered frame. The Brunte-Le Coste shuts down pretty quickly in the glass, suggesting it may be headed for a period of dormancy. Today, it is flat-out stunning. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2038. (AG)" (10/2011)

2010 Domenico Clerico "Ciabot Mentin Ginestra" Barolo
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Domenico Clerico "Ciabot Mentin Ginestra" Barolo (95ST, 94RP, 93WS, 92JS, 90WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full red. Liqueur-like plum and black cherry on the nose. Then fine-grained and classy but tightly wound, showing utterly primary flavors of cherry, red berries and menthol. There's no way into this extremely backward wine today. But it has the racy acidity and excellent clarity for a spectacular evolution in bottle. 95+ (ST)" (12/2013)

Vinous: "Things get back on track quickly with the 1978 Barolo Riserva Speciale Villero, an epic wine that shows all of its pedigree. 2008 Accomasso Barolo Riserva
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Accomasso Barolo Riserva. Lorenzo Accomasso is from Bartolo Mascarello’s generation, and has been crating Barolo from his vineyards for a very long time. Tiny production and an increased following in Europe for his wines mean that these wines are about as rare as rare gets. The 2008 was aged in half oak and half stainless steel and was bottled after the 2015 harvest.

Delicate aromas of sandalwood, blackberry, licorice and cherry follow through to a full body, with very chewy tannins and loads of pretty fruit and hints of vanilla. Sneaks up on you to deliver a red for aging. Massive. An amazing wine. *Collectible* (JS)" (09/2008)

1978 Bruno Giacosa "Villero di Castiglione Falletto" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1978 Bruno Giacosa "Villero di Castiglione Falletto" Barolo (96VN). Vinous: "These three 1978s from Bruno Giacosa were all lovely. None are considered among his very best work by thecognoscenti, so they remain somewhat under the radar, but they are jewels just the same. The 1978 Barolo Villero (white label) was finest of the three wines in this flight. Although not up to the level of the 1978 red label Villero, the white label was a fine poor-man’s substitute, with plenty of vineyard and vintage character, and that inimitable Giacosa perfume. 1978 Bruno Giacosa "Bussia di Monforte Riserva Speciale" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1978 Bruno Giacosa "Bussia di Monforte Riserva Speciale" Barolo (97VN). Vinous: "Medium evolved ruby. This 1978 is nothing short of spectacular in its profoundness. Although the nose shows some evolved notes such as tobacco, there is still plenty of sweet, perfumed fruit, which blossoms on the palate, with incredible persistence, and a lingering note of menthol to round out the exquisite finish. Like the 1978 Monfortino that would follow, the 1978 Bussia appears magically young, although it is a decidedly more delicate and medium-bodied wine. Though fully mature, this shows no signs of fading. Pure magic in a bottle. (AG)" (10/2005)

Bid on this bottle of 2001 Massolino "Vigna Rionda" Barolo Riserva (95RP, 93JS, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Barolo Riserva Vigna Rionda is all silk and finesse. The tannins are barely perceptible. Sweet roses, spices, mint and red berries come together beautifully in this utterly sensual, inviting Barolo. The 2001 impresses for its refinement and understated personality. Expressive floral notes reappear on the engaging finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2026. (AG)" (04/2012)
