2013 Paloma Spring Mountain District Merlot

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a strong effort from Paloma that has made its reputation for ripe, sexy, full-bodied Merlots. This wine exhibits plenty of plum, black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, mocha and coffee bean in a lush, delicious and opulently textured style. It is drinking beautifully already and will continue to evolve for another decade or more. (RP)" (10/2016) Wine Spectator: "Supple and sleek, with an elegant sense of complexity and accents of red currant, dark chocolate and mineral that linger. (TF, Web Only-2016)"

2012 Paloma Spring Mountain District Merlot

Wine Spectator: "Densely structured, mixing deep fruit with mineral-tinged tannins. Aromas of currant and olive lead to firm flavors of bitter chocolate, cedar and herb. Hands off for now. Best from 2017 through 2022. (TF, Web Only-2016)" K&L Notes: One of the Napa Valley's most famous Merlots, this bottling comes from the Paloma Vineyard and includes about 14-16% Cabernet Sauvignon, depending on the vintage. The wine is aged in one-third new and two-thirds used French oak barrels for 18 months. The results are incredibly age-able, with black fruit, tob ...

2012 K Vintners "Northridge Vineyard" Wahluke Slope Merlot

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 100% Merlot that saw 60% new French oak, the 2012 Merlot Northridge Vineyard is a plump, rounded, sexy Merlot that's loaded with notions of blueberry, violets, plums and graphite. It's hard to resist, and I see no reason to delay gratification either. As usual, this was a massive lineup by Washington's wild man, Charles Smith. Despite the larger-than-life persona, these wines are dead serious and are always some of the best I'm able to taste from the state. All of the Rhone varieties see 100% whole cl ...

2010 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia "Masseto" Toscana

100 points Vinous: "A wine of extraordinary purity, silkiness and finesse, the 2010 Masseto has it all. The flavors are bright, precise and exceptionally pure, but it is the wine’s total balance that is utterly compelling. What more can I ask from a wine? Absolutely nothing. There is often something magical about cooler, later-ripening vintages at the estate. The interplay of more moderate conditions with the inherent power of these sites can yield wines of profound beauty and brilliance. The 2010 is all that, and more. 2015 Clinet, Pomerol

99 points James Suckling: "An immaculate wine with pristine blackberries and dark plums as well as fresh, earthy nuances and dark crushed violets. An upright palate with lightly peppery dark berries and plums. The inflection of cabernet here makes for an impressively powerful wine that still exudes Pomerol’s suave, seductive charm. Chalky, seamless tannins. Super fresh. Try from 2022." (02/2018) 98 points Decanter: "An elegant, powerful and accomplished wine in 2015, with finely-knitted tannins and dark fruit which is pushed impercetibly upwards from s ...

2009 Clinet, Pomerol

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Clinet has been on a hot streak lately and the 2009 appears to be the greatest wine ever made at the estate, surpassing even the late Jean-Michel Arcaute's monumental 1989. A blend of 85% Merlot and tiny amounts of Cabernet Franc (12%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (3%), this big Pomerol boasts an opaque, moonless night inky/blue/purple color in addition to a gorgeous perfume of blueberry pie, incense, truffles, black raspberries, licorice and wood smoke. Viscous and multi-dimensional with silky, sweet tannin, massive ...

2006 Pride Mountain Napa-Sonoma Counties Merlot

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Made in the Pride style, this is a big, powerful wine that should age well. It’s enormously ripe, with flamboyant cassis, cherry pie filling, milk chocolate, licorice and smoky oak flavors that are wrapped into thoroughly modern, softly refined tannins." (07/2009) 92 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Wispy suggestions of loam and briar are almost obscured by chocolate and cherries in the highly ripe aromas of this one, but, the wine judiciously takes a step back in the mouth from excess and eschews simple ripeness in favor of swee ...

1995 Figeac, St-Émilion

95 points Wine Spectator: "Best Figeac in years. Loads of blackberry, chocolate and stones. Full-bodied and concentrated with masses of tannins and fruit. Long, long finish. Needs time." (01/1998) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the Château Figeac vertical at the property from one of the last remaining imperials, one could argue that the six-liter format would have benefit the 1995 Figeac. Even so, that should not take anything away from this, the best vintage of that decade. Firstly, one notices that it is deeper in color than the ...

2003 Paradigm Napa Merlot

90 points and one star from the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "A measured Merlot leading with scents of red cherries and sweet plums buttressed by creamy, slightly caramelly oak, this bottling is fairly full in weight and well-balanced throughout. Its flavors again favor both ripe cherries and plums and look to a streak of fine-grained tannins for support. Polish and precision make this one a wine to remember." Enjoy this endearing, long, velvety-textured St.-Emilion over the next decade. (RP)" (06/2010) 92 points Vinous: "Bright ruby-red. Roasted currant and black cherry scents complicated by sexy oak. Sweet aromas of espresso roast, plum sauce, black currants and forest floor are followed by a delicious, chewy, complex wine that should drink well for another 12-14 years. 2009 La Gaffelière, St-Emilion

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An absolutely spectacular effort, the 2009 is one of the all-time great La Gaffelieres produced. One would have to go back to the 2005, 1947 or 1961 to find this level of quality from this ancient, historic vineyard planted adjacent to the walls of St.-Emilion, on the Cote Pavie. Dating back to the 1400s, this estate has been owned for over three centuries by the Malet-Roquefort family. (02/2019) 92 points Vinous: "The 2016 La Fleur de Boüard is gorgeous. Sweet, floral notes lift the red berry fruit in this gracious, mid-weight wine. Raspberry, wild flowers, mocha, spice and mint all run through this lithe, silky wine. The 2016 possesses notable silkiness, nuance and finesse. This is a terrific showing. " (05/2018) 90 points Wine & Spirits: "Foresty and even a touch meaty, this Merlot has a black-cherry core of flavor that’s deep and satisfying; cedar and redwood tips give the wine a subtly savory finish. It’s a complex Merlot for rosemary roast chicken." (08/2018) Wine Enthusiast: "This is a true pan-Washington Merlot, with fruit coming from nine vineyards across the state. Blended with ...

Big, full and decadently fruited, it has a firm frame of super ripe, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing very long and layered. The Carneros region is perfect for the early ripening Merlot grape. 2016 Duckhorn "Three Palms Vineyard" Napa Valley Merlot

It is broad and full-bodied on the palate, and, although it teases with early suppleness as good Merlot is wont to do, it is, in fact, a very solidly built wine that suggests a bit of Cabernet structural influence and gradually tightens and finishes with moderate tannins making a goo ...

Rich, deep and explosive, the 2016 possesses remarkable depth and intensity from the very first taste. The 2016 is exotic, full-throttle and unapologetically hedonistic.
