2015 Torti Barbera Oltrepo Pavese

90 points James Suckling: "A very pretty and fruity barbera with flavors of cherries and raspberries, as well as a hint of vanilla highlighting the medium body. Fresh acidity, too. A delicious wine. Drink now. " (06/2018) K&L Notes: The Barbera grapes for this wine were grown in vineyards dating back to the early 19th century. It's a vibrant ruby red in the glass with a dry, full body. Thanks to the long growing season in this northern part of Italy, the wine develops gorgeous acid that makes it a perfect accompaniment to roasted and braised meats.

2016 Agostino Pavia "Bricco Blina" Barbera d'Asti

No oak here, just very zesty and ripe Barbera fruit. Bricco Blina is the most straightforward of the three single-vineyard Barberas made at Agostino Pavia. This is the epitome of the bright acidity and berry flavor that are the hallmarks of Barbera, but low yields and old vines give wonderful depth and concentration, too. Notes from the importer: "'Blina' is the name of the vineyard. This wine is a direct, straightforward rendition of the Barbera grape. Fresh acidity and berry flavors are the hallmarks of Barbera, but low yields and old vines give this ...

2015 Cascina Ca' Rossa "Vigna Mulassa" Barbera d'Alba

Ca'Rossa was founded in 1967 when Alfonso Ferrio bought a small farmhouse and estate growing hazelnuts, vegetables, and raising chickens. Cascina Ca Rossa is located in the Roero area of Piemonte. With calcareous soils, high temperatures and very little rain, the area was under vine during the Roman era, home to Nebbiolo, Barbera and Arneis, a scented, dry white grape. At Cascina Ca Rossa, two distinct styles of wine are produced. The first style which could be considered "normale", pertains to vintage dated wines that are fermented in steel barrels and ...

2017 J. Runquist Amador County Barbera

Winemaker's Notes: "I can't spend much time in our tasting room before someone asks me "What is your favorite wine?" I am pretty evasive with my answer because it really depends upon what I am enjoying it with, food, friends or the just the weather. A less frequent query is, "What is your favorite wine to make?" Here the answer is simple; Barbera. Barbera has great flavor; it is juicy and succulent, the tannins are mild and it is incredibly versatile. But what makes it my favorite to make is that, it is easy to manage, it ripens evenly, behaves well ...

(MD)" (12/2017) Wine & Spirits: "A blend of Barbera and Syrah, this is juicy and plummy, with a salted-caramel sweetness. It’s a simple, welcoming red for charred beef kabobs." (08/2018)
