94 points James Suckling: "A wine with blueberry and mineral aromas follows through to a full body, with fine tannins and a juicy finish. Best for years from here. Needs at least three years of bottle age to soften. Could be better than 2009 in the long run." (02/2013) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The wine needs a good 7-10 years of cellaring and should keep for 30 more years, but this is the finest Cantemerle I have encountered in my professional career of tasting young vintages (dating back 34 years now). Stunningly deep ruby/purple, wit...

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Syrah Pilgrim, which was tasted from barrel and is 100% Syrah, looks fantastic. A big, pedal-to- the metal style that stays beautifully fresh and focused, it offers up thrilling aromatics, a mouth-filling, voluptuous texture in the mouth and an overall generous, supple feel that will be ideal for drinking over the coming 5-7 years. 94 points Wine Spectator: "Wonderfully expressive, with a ripe and juicy mix of blackberry, huckleberry and blueberry flavors, a mouthful of rustic tannins and notes of spice, black tea and cigar box. Balanced and dense, with tannins that firm up on the finish. Drink now through 2024. (MW)" (03/2014) 92 points Vinous: "Bright medium ruby. Aromas of black cherry and licorice, with a much more subtle raisiny element than in some recent vintages. Dense, sweet and surprisingly fine-grained for the variety, with intense flavors of black cherry, dark berries...

98 points Vinous: "The 2010 Pinot Noir Solomon Hills is dazzling from the very first taste. Dark red cherries, plums, menthol, tar and licorice take shape in a towering, majestic Pinot that captivates all the senses. Hints of hard candy, crushed rocks and menthol are layered into the nuanced, perfumed finish. This stunning Pinot from Adam Tolmach and Fabien Castel is firing on all cylinders today. It has been fabulous on the two different occasions I tasted it. (AG)" (07/2013) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Totally stunning, the 2010 Pinot N...

95-96 points James Suckling: "I love the botrytis spice character to this wine with dried apricots and tropical fruits. It's full bodied, medium sweet with a long intense finish. It's very layered. Sweet wine of the vintage." (04/2011) 94-96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Structured firm, very spicy, while also showing fresh pineapple acidity. Concentrated and packed with botrytis. (RV)" (06/2011) 94 points Wine Spectator: "A muscular version, with dacquoise and marzipan notes leading the way for creamed orange, white peach, ginger, mirabelle compote and t...

94 points International Wine Review: "The 2010 Epoch Tempranillo is a monster of a wine; powerful, dense and concentrated with intense aromas and flavors of dark fruits and crème de cassis layered in chocolate, spices, pepper, espresso and hints of licorice. This demonstrates excellent structure and balance, ending in a long mouth coating finish laced with dark fruits and spices that carry on and on. This is drinking fantastic right now, but also shows the potential to age." (12/2013) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lastly, the massive and ...

91 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe, pure, perfumed aromas are supple and structured on the palate, showing touches of spice, wilted rose and mineral, with an elegant aftertaste. (JL)" (09/2012) 90 points Connoisseurs Guide: " *One Star* Far and away the deepest and most interesting of Sojourn's new Pinots, this one from Gap's Crown Vineyard is a well-ripened working that shows a fine sense of fruity substance. It is on the fleshy and full-bodied side, but it never seems soft or heavy, and its slightly velvety beginnings are followed up with a mild tannic ...

94 points Vinous: "The 2010 Pinot Noir (San Mateo County) is simply fabulous. Rich dark cherries, crushed flowers, mint and spices burst from the glass. This is a hugely delicious wine from Rhys. The 80% whole clusters are nicely balanced by the sheer depth of the fruit. This is a flat out stunning wine from Rhys. In 2010 the San Mateo is the entry-level Pinot. The 2010 is bottled under San Mateo appellation, as it includes fruit from Bearwallow (in Anderson Valley) rather than the more typical collection of sites from the Santa Cruz Mountains. Once agai...

2010 Bellefont-Belcier, St-Emilion (Pre-Arrival, Elsewhere $80) (Pre-Arrival, Elsewhere $80)
Top Pick!
93 points James Suckling: "Wonderful aromas of black truffles and berries with hints of wet earth. Full body, with velvety tannins and a rich and chewy finish. Yet the fruit and acidity balance this muscular wine. " (02/2013) 93 points Wine Spectator: "There's a nice charcoal note driving this from the start, while the dark plum, blackberry and black currant fruit waits in reserve. Ganache, licorice snap and tobacco fill in the finish and give this added range, while a singed alder wood note runs underneath for added texture and length. Impressive. (J...

95 points Wine & Spirits: "Generous from start to finish, Laurène marries Domaine Drouhin’s traditional elegance with tremendous energy and vitality. Scents of plum and black cherry, dark and forward, are framed by warm oak spice, all marked by a high tone. Within all that generosity of flavor is a wild, vinous quality-the native yeast fermentation perhaps-guiding the wine without getting in its way." (10/2013) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This reserve-level Pinot from DDO is exceptional in every way. Silky, elegant and deeply-fruited, it marries a plus...

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright violet color. Sexy, highly perfumed scents of musky red and dark berries, incense and Asian spices, with a bright mineral topnote. Fresh, impressively concentrated raspberry and blackberry flavors are firmed by silky tannins and brightened by zesty minerality and a hint of blood orange. Suavely melds richness with energy, finishing on notes of tangy red berry skin and smoky minerals. (ST)" (05/2012) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a recently purchased site in the Anderson Vall...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A larger-scaled style of Pinot emerges in the 2010 Pinot Noir Atticus John Sebastiano Vineyard. This is a distinctly big, fruit-driven Pinot long on style and personality. The yields are extremely low in this site, and while the wine has fabulous concentration, it also lacks the finesse of the best wines in the lineup. 93+ Today, my impression is that the Atticus needs time to settle down a touch, although it will always retain some of its pure and, at times, rough-around-the-edges, enthusiasm. 93+ Points. Bid on this bottle of 2010 Casanova di Neri "White Label" Brunello di Montalcino (96JS, 96RP, 94WS, 91VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The outstanding 2010 Brunello di Montalcino gives you everything you want to see in a great wine, a great Tuscan wine. This monumental expression of Sangiovese delivers top-notch intensity with seamless integration of aromas. They span from dark fruit and Morello cherry to chocolate, spice, licorice, balsam herb and rosemary sprig. The energy and vitality of the vintage is locked perfectly within. This Brunello exhibits especially soft, silky tannins with long persistence and momentum. There is nothing out of place and the price tag is certainly not exaggerated for this level of excellence. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Bodegas Alto Moncayo "Alto Moncayo" Campo de Borja (92RP, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I tend to drink Alto Moncayo during its first 5-6 years of life. Although I was sure they had aging potential, I did not realize just how much longevity these wines possess. They are generally full-bodied, powerful (with at least 15.5% natural alcohol), concentrated, rich wines made from very old vines and tiny yields. If you are not into flavor concentration or care about artisanal wines from great terroirs that have been ignored for centuries, this may not be the wine for you. Not one of these ten vintages was close to full maturity. The two most recent vintages, 2010 and 2011, were both late, cooler years and both have turned out to be sexy wines. I suspect that in many ways, 2011 will behave like 2006, being precocious and delicious, but not as long-lived as some of its siblings. These wines appear to have 20-30 years of aging potential, although t
