2001 Labegorce, Margaux (3L)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A straightforward, dark plum/garnet-colored effort, the 2001 Labegorce reveals smoky, earthy elements intertwined with cherries, plums, and cedar. Medium-bodied and elegant..." (06/2004) Wine Enthusiast: "Huge investment is paying off at Labegorce. And it has not resulted in a wine that is simply modern in style. For here the new wood is well integrated, the fruit is structured, and never too extracted, and the ripeness also has layers of Bordeaux dryness. (RV)" (06/2005) Wine Spectator: "Soft and simple, with plum, co ...

1999 Labegorce, Margaux (3L)

90 points James Suckling: "A little chewy, but some outstanding quality and age with leather, fruit, and spices. Full and tannic. Lots going on. Drink it. " (02/2011) Vinous: "Bright medium ruby. Lively aromas of black raspberry, bitter chocolate and mint. Good texture and restrained sweetness; dark berry flavors are quite youthfully unevolved. Solidly structured wine, finishing with firm but fine tannins and very good length. (ST)" (05/2000) Wine Spectator: "Aromas of berries, chocolate and hints of spices. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins ...

1996 Labegorce, Margaux (3L)

According to the Wine Spectator: "Not a big-boned wine, but delicious nonetheless. Attractive blackberry, cherry and earth aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a pretty fruity aftertaste. Best after 2000." (01/99) A great cabernet vintage and a fine value. $40 for the 1996 and $50 for the 2005. This is a no-brainer. (Clyde Beffa, K&L Wine Merchants)

2016 d'Issan, Margaux (3L) (Pre-Arrival)

96 points James Suckling: "The brightness and precision already comes through on the nose with floral, blackcurrant character. Full-bodied and very tight and creamy with polished tannins that last for minutes. Warm and intense. Needs four to five years to show all it has, yet already a beauty." (02/2019) 94-96 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine has an austere structure, with firm tannins. The fruit comes through slowly, revealing an attractive black-currant flavor and ample acidity. This will be a very fine wine with time; try after 2029. (RV)" (04/201 ...

2017 Siran, Margaux (3L) (Pre-Arrival)

92-94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This producer needs to be careful with the wood aging lest it smother the fruit. However, the good news is that the fruit is there, as well as fine, firm tannins. Together, they give this juicy wine great aging potential. (RV)" (04/2018) 90-93 points Wine Spectator: "Sleek, with dark cherry and plum pâte de fruit notes stretched out over a licorice thread. Offers an elegant, spice-infused finish. (JM)" (04/2018) 90-93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 Château Siran should certainly be an outstanding wine. Giving up lots of ...

2018 Malescot-St-Exupéry, Margaux (3L) (Pre-Arrival)

97-98 points James Suckling: "A structured and muscular Malescot with blackberry and blackcurrant aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Big wine for this producer. " (04/2019) 94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Malescot St. Exupery comes prancing out of the glass with flamboyant raspberry coulis, kirsch and redcurrant jelly scents over a fresh blackcurrant and boysenberry core with wafts of red roses, cinnamon stick and forest floor. Full-bodied, rich and opulent in the mout ...

2017 Malescot-St-Exupéry, Margaux (3L) (Pre-Arrival)

95-96 points James Suckling: "A fantastic 2017 from Margaux with a deep and ripe core of fruit in the center palate. Silky and juicy tannins. Full body, plenty of fruit and a long, flavorful finish." (04/2018) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Malescot St. Exupery is scented of crushed red and black cherries, warm plums and mulberries with touches of roses and wood smoke. The palate is medium-bodied with plenty of vibrant red and black fruits and soft, plush tannins, with a long, perfumed finish. (LPB)" ( ...

2018 Labégorce, Margaux (3L) (Pre-Arrival)

93-96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another winner from Margaux is the 2018 Château Labégorce, which is an interesting blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, and the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot (although I was given slightly different blends for the two samples tasted). Aging in 40% new oak, this deeply colored effort offers a beautiful perfume of blueberries, raspberries, flowers, and spice. It’s medium to full-bodied, has remarkable purity, and fine tannins, and should be approachable right out of the gate. It’s worth mentioning this ...

2018 Siran, Margaux (3L) (Pre-Arrival)

94-95 points James Suckling: "This is a solid Siran with blackberries and hints of hazelnuts and chocolate. Full body and chewy tannins that are soft and polished. Shows depth and density." (04/2019) 93-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "With more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend than previous years, this vintage is structured and full of a ripe black currant flavor. It is spicy and offers fine tannins that will contribute to its aging potential. (RV)" (04/2019) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Siran opens wit ...

2009 Malescot-St-Exupéry, Margaux (3L) (Pre-Arrival)

98 points James Suckling: "A wine, with intense spice and berry character, with hints of sweet tobacco. It changes all the time from flowers to fruit and wet earth. Full-bodied, with super fine tannins and ripe fruit. It's long and juicy with lovely fruit. Super long and beautiful, with fine tannins that last for minutes. Tight now, but juicy and gorgeous. Best ever from here. Try in 2020." (02/2012) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An inky/purple color is followed by notes of Asian plum sauce, forest floor, creme de cassis, black raspberries ...

1975 Prieure Lichine, Margaux (3L)
Bid on this 3L-bottle lot of 1975 Prieure Lichine, Margaux (3L). The estate was founded as the Prieuré de Cantenac around the year 1000, and for many years was a stopping point for pilgrims on the road to Santiago de Compostela. While vines were certainly planted from the 12th Century, the conversion of the property to a full-scale wine estate took place in the 1700s. Its current name refers to noted winemaker Alexis Lichine, who owned the estate from 1951 until his death in 1989. Ranked as a Fourth Growth in the official Bordeaux Classification of 1855, it's regarded as one of Margaux's most consistent producers and is known for its elegance and suppleness, derived in part from the relatively high proportion of Merlot in the blend.
