93 points Decanter: "A 50th anniversary special bottling, this has a touch of Napa Valley about it in the rich palate, balanced with Left Bank structure, tannins and restrained oak influence. (AH)" K&L Notes: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 4% Syrah, 1% Malbec, 1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. We craft our Columbia Valley Cabernet to highlight concentrated Washington red fruit in an accessible style. This is an inviting Cab with plenty of complexity and structure with silky tannins. 2012 Inglenook "Rubicon" Rutherford Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (Elsewhere $450)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon, which used to be a proprietary blend and had a somewhat rustic, Italian personality, has now been put under the Inglenook Vineyard designation. Where the Cabernet Sauvignon was a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot, the Rubicon has abandoned any Italian varietals in favor of a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Merlot. I think it’s safe to say this is potentially the best Rubicon made to date. It’s not to ...

2009 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan (1.5L)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009, which has an opaque ruby/purple color, an extraordinary nose of high-quality unsmoked cigar tobacco, graphite, blackcurrants and spice, hits the palate with a medium to full-bodied, saturated and rich mouthfeel, but an elegant and ethereal quality that is difficult to articulate. It is rich, complex and tastes as if it were the vinous equivalent of a remarkable haute couture creation from the late Coco Chanel. It is full-bodied yet elegant, powerful yet delicate, and remarkably velvety-textured, sumptu ...

2005 Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac (1.5L)

99 points Decanter: "Deep bright ruby, superconcentrated and extremely vertical, this Mouton is only starting to open up after which it will plateau for another fifty years or so of outstanding drinking. Cassis, cedar, graphite aromas and flavours of noteworthy complexity are lifted by harmonious acidity. An extremely refined and less exotic Mouton Rothschild. (ID)" (11/2015) 98 points James Suckling: "This accelerates on the palate with incredibly ripe tannins and finesse. Full body, roasted fruit, leather and grilled meat. Dried flowers, too. 2009 Le Gay, Pomerol (1.5L)

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "In the same league as the otherworldly 2010, the 2009 Le Gay (90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc) is a totally thrilling Pomerol that’s up with the crème de la crème in this wonderful vintage. Simply loaded with notions of blackcurrants, blackberries, espresso, cedarwood, dried flowers, and incense aromas and flavors, this beauty hits the palate with an opulent, full-bodied, powerful profile yet stays seamless and silky. Possessing perfect balance, beautiful mid-palate depth, sweet, sweet tannins, and no hard edges, it’s just about ...

2009 Margaux, Margaux (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Decanter: "The smooth, silky tannins are joined by blackberry and cassis fruit with a great sense of vibrancy and concentration, and some tingling minerality with a pulse of electricity. There's a latent generosity here, a slow confidence that builds through the palate as the flavours layer up, yet it's clear that there's still lots to be revealed, particularly the hints of violet and peony florality that just peek through on the finish. This is very, very good - up with the best ever from this estate. 31% of production went into this wine, an ...

2017 Daou Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

Strong acidity drives the finish. *Editor's Choice* (MK)" (10/2019) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from barrel, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is very promising, revealing a youthfully primary bouquet of currants and plums that's already integrated its new oak. 1996 Robert Mondavi "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby-red. Explosive, somewhat feral, highly aromatic nose of cassis, roast coffee, game, smoky oak and chocolate; shows a very strong torrefaction aspect. Lush, rich and deep; has a pliancy and degree of early personality I find in only the very best young California cabernets. Subtle notes of chocolate and tobacco contribute to the wine appeal. Finishes fairly tannic but very long. Distinctly more layered than the '95. (ST)" (11/1999) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Caberne ...

1991 Spottswoode Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

The year was the most abundant in Spottswoode’s history, producing 5,852 cases of a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc. Interestingly, this was also one of the great early stars in the tasting, showing that high yields can (when conditions are perfect – and they were in 1991, with a long growing season with plenty of sunshine, but no real extreme heat waves). 1989 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (1.5L)

The nose offers sweet plums and creme de cassis intermixed with vanilla and graphite. The wine is lush, medium to full-bodied, and layered with texture, low acidity, sweet tannin, and the hallmark purity and elegance this estate routinely produces. (01/2019) 93 points Decanter: "The Cazes family's property in St-Estèphe, which for a drinking wine is going to be hard to beat this year. 2014 Leviathan California Red Blend (1.5L)

92 points Decanter: "Made by Screaming Eagle's former winemaker, this is full-on and bold right from the start. Bacon, smoke, prune and peony hit the nose, and the palate follows up with juicy ripeness coated in that aromatic, cured meat style of smoke. This is visceral, uncompromising and mouth-filling. Very fine tannins dry the mouth, and alcoholic warmth does the rest. Has some Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc in the blend alongside the Cabernet Sauvignon. Drinking Window 2025-2035. On the attack, the wine is sweet and pure, with striking symmetry, and a compellingly balanced mid-palate and finish. The 2006 is a masculine, vertical Monte Bello that demands cellaring. Even so, it is pretty impressive today. Scents of lavender, sage, mint and savory herbs add closing flourishes. The perfumed sweetness of the fruit (one of the hallmarks of the very late harvest) remains one of the signatures of the 2006. The 2006 can be enjoyed today or cellared for another 25+ years.
