2005 Bodegas Casa Juan Señor de Lesmos Gran Reserva Rioja (1.5L)

Finally, the great 2005 Gran Reserva from our favorite Rioja winery has arrived! As is the case with so many other great spots in Spain, Bodega Casa Juan is located opposite the village church, in the beautiful walled pueblo of Laguardia. The winery is a converted flour mill, featuring concrete tanks for fermenting and blending the wine, and barrels that are used for up to seven years. These are traditional Riojas in elaboration and spirit, though the site specificity of their Laguardia and Villabuena vineyards confers a fruit character all its own to th ...

2015 Bodegas Casa Juan Señor de Lesmos Crianza Rioja (1.5L)

Lesmos is back, and now in magnums, the ideal size for parties and for extended aging in your cellar! All estate fruit, hand harvested, and carefully vinified with native yeasts, this is a hand-sewn wine with the purity, texture, and elegance to prove it. Produced from 85% Tempranillo and 15% Mazuelo, the wine shows a rather Burgundian nose of cherries and plums, opening to reveal a hint of sandalwood that leads to a wonderful palate with persistent, tangy cherry flavors presented on an elegantly textured frame. Terrific acidity and a lasting finish. On ...

2018 Domaine des Côtes Blanches Sancerre (1.5L)

Domaine Côtes Blanches was established in the 1930s by Bernard and Pierre Millet. In 1980, it was time for the second generation to take the reins, so François and Monique expanded the estate to 21 hectares of vines (15 Sauvignon, 6 Pinot Noir). After returning from his studies in Beaune five years ago, Nicolas (son of François and Monique) joined the family-run estate and brought a new energized passion. The family is dedicated to the land and the environment by which they are surrounded. All farming is done organically, harvest dates are dictated by na ...

2014 Bodegas Casa Juan Señor de Lesmos Reserva Rioja (1.5L)

Composed of the same grapes in the same percentages as the Crianza, the Reserva is a barrel selection of wines that Angel feels can undergo longer aging in barrel and then in bottle. Aged a total of 27 months in barrels, then into concrete for more than a year, the Reserva also sees bottle aging until Angel deems it ready for release. This wine ramps up the intensity of the Crianza, with more pungent fruit as well as a real spicy and wild quality. As with many of the best Riojas, this wine is quite delicious right now if you want to drink some bottles wh ...

2016 Baron de Montfaucon Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a single patch of 80-year-old vines in the lieu-dit of les Escondudes, the 2016 Châteauneuf du Pape is 95% Grenache, matured in barrel. Yet it's not oaky at all, revealing scents of black cherries and plums, plus hints of garrigue and dark chocolate. It's full-bodied, creamy and plush yet also vibrant, mouthwatering and long. It should drink well for at least a decade. (JC)" (11/2018) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Intense, with dark fig, blackberry and boysenberry compote flavors streaming through, flanked by ...

2011 Miguel Merino Gran Reserva Rioja (1.5L)

This Gran Reserva is from some of their oldest Tempranillo and Graciano vines, planted in 1931 and 1946. It is elegant, generous and a precociously delicious treat for now, or over the next 15 years. Miguel Merino makes, as he likes to put it, an "updated classic" style of Rioja, all from his own 2 hectares of vines and several hectares of vineyards owned by a close friend. All the fruit is from sloped vineyards (Miguel is a fan of his slopes) within the cooler climate Rioja Alta town of Briones, which makes his wine a terrific showcase of the terroir (e ...

2009 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan (1.5L)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009, which has an opaque ruby/purple color, an extraordinary nose of high-quality unsmoked cigar tobacco, graphite, blackcurrants and spice, hits the palate with a medium to full-bodied, saturated and rich mouthfeel, but an elegant and ethereal quality that is difficult to articulate. It is rich, complex and tastes as if it were the vinous equivalent of a remarkable haute couture creation from the late Coco Chanel. It is full-bodied yet elegant, powerful yet delicate, and remarkably velvety-textured, sumptu ...

Elijah Craig K&L Exclusive Single Barrel #5214167 Bourbon 750ml (ships as a 1.5L)

The first trip Andrew and I booked to Kentucky as a new buying team and it's almost like old times. Everywhere we went to had barrels for us. This has not been the norm for the last five years. I can't remember the last time we'd been able to pick out barrels at Heaven Hill on site, but I do remember it wasn't bourbon, but their wheated whiskey, Bernheim. For the past several rounds we've been sent samples in a basic thumbs up/thumbs down situation. Now suddenly we're back in Warehouse X picking out barrels with our friends in Bardstown. 2018 Domaine des Côtes Blanches Sancerre Rosé (1.5L)

Made by the Millet family who have been running the estate for five generations. Vigneron Nicolas Millet has taken the helm of this family operation, originally established in the 1930s, and began moving the winemaking toward organics in 2008. Nicolas makes wonderful blancs and rouges but the rosé is always a standout in the category. The Côtes Blanches refers to the stony white soils found on the slopes of Sancerre in the heart of France. This is the homeland of light, delicate Pinot Noir, made into fresh reds and elegant rosés. The Sancerre Rosé is aro ...

Aged in tank and amphorae, it's a delicious blend of cherries, raspberries and blueberries with garrigue and violets. It's light to medium-bodied on the palate, loaded with tart, citrusy flavors that extend through the finish. (JC)" (04/2019) Wine Enthusiast: "This soft, rounded wine is warm with ripe red-berry fruits and a lightly peppery character. It is full bodied, balanced with strawberry fruitiness at the end. The Millet Sancerre has been a favorite here at K&L for a long time. Grown in limestone-clay soil, the wine reflects the terroir wonderfully. 1989 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (1.5L)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Approaching full maturity, Pichon-Lalande’s1989 has a deep ruby/plum color with some lightening at the edge. The nose offers sweet plums and creme de cassis intermixed with vanilla and graphite. The wine is lush, medium to full-bodied, and layered with texture, low acidity, sweet tannin, and the hallmark purity and elegance this estate routinely produces. The 2018 Château de la Noblesse Bandol Rosé has yet to be reviewed, but Josh Raynolds gave the 2017 vintage 90 points along with this review: "Light, vivid orange. Pungent, mineral-accented blood orange and red berry scents, with a subtle floral note in the background. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering raspberry and lavender flavors that are braced by a refreshingly bitter citrus pith note. Shows very good clarity and persistence on the finish, which leaves a dusty mineral note behind."

It offers up scents of leather, cedar and vanilla, but it balances out the oak with dark fruit notes of cola, plum and spice. It's full-bodied and velvety on the palate, while hints of licorice emerge on the lengthy finish. This wine has clearly emerged as one of the top Liracs. 2018 Domaines Ott "Château de Selle" Côtes de Provence Rosé (1.5L)

93 points Wine & Spirits: "De Selle was Marcel Ott’s first estate, an imposingly rocky slope of gypsum, red clay, dolomite, gravel and sandstone in Taradeau that he purchased in 1912. The rosé it produced in 2018—a blend of grenache with cinsault, syrah and mourvèdre—is more open than the Clos Mireille: De Selle is immediately inviting in its fresh, floral scents of melon and rosemary. The 2006 is a masculine, vertical Monte Bello that demands cellaring. Even so, it is pretty impressive today. Scents of lavender, sage, mint and savory herbs add closing flourishes. The perfumed sweetness of the fruit (one of the hallmarks of the very late harvest) remains one of the signatures of the 2006. The 2006 can be enjoyed today or cellared for another 25+ years.
