Four Pillars "Faultline" K&L Exclusive Australian Gin (750ml)
Top Pick!
When our first batch of Four Pillars Faultline Gin ran out, we were all devastated. Initially conceived as a one-off project, the FP Fautlline turned out to be one of our most popular gins ever, both among staff and our customers. After months of trying to find a substitute, we conceded that the first go around was just too good and needed to be remade to the exact same specs. The initial batch was put together by David Driscoll, K&L Buyer Emeritus, wanting to build on the clean citrus notes and the creamy texture that are the calling cards of Four Pilla...

After sweeping Double Gold at the San Francisco Spirits competition and wowing serious fans of gin around the world, Four Pillars is bringing its incredible gins from Down Under to the U.S. Utilizing "four pillars" of success (quality German copper stills, pure Yarra Valley water, unique Australian botanicals, and love, of course), the team of Aussies has created what we think are the best portfolio of high-quality, serious gins we've ever tasted. At a whopping 58.8%, the Navy Strength gin is a bold an...

The exceptional Ford's Gin is one of the most versatile London Drys on the market. Distilled at the exceptional Thames Distillery by master distiller Charles Maxwell and the famous Simon Ford. They start with a base of Italian juniper and coriander seed, and the recipe is expanded thoughtfully to include bitter oranges, lemon and grapefruit peel. Subtle jasmine and orris add a soft floral quality, while spicy angelica root and cassia bark give it some structure. I've always noted a smidge of cucumber, but the distiller won't cop to it. Anyway, the mixtur...

100 points Spirit Journal: "JCB Gin is enhanced by the native flora that grows in the Biodynamically farmed vineyard gardens on the Boisset property. Dandelion, chamomile, lemon balm, and more than 40 other botanicals (including 30 organic plants) are infused into this London Dry–style gin. Essence of sunflower, lilacs, and verbena come to life on the nose as the liquid, dotted with white pepper and caper berries, melts across the palate. Violets thread through the herbs for a spring garden effect throughout." K&L Notes: Special Order Only! Will take 3-...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Sweet-tasting and citrusy, this has a light herbal aroma. It shows distinct cucumber and lavender notes on the palate, and it should lend itself to spring and summer cocktails. (KN)" K&L Notes: Uncle Val’s is a small-batch botanical gin inspired by Zio Valerio’s love of gardening and native Tuscan cuisine. The botanicals are not only Uncle Val’s favorite cooking ingredients, but also happen to make an exceptionally unique and smoothly delicious gin. Producer note: "Uncle Val’s presents a complex and subtly pleasing sensation ...

It took a year longer than they thought it would, but after labeling conflicts with the TTB and a bit of arguing over what exactly the Bloody Shiraz gin was (a liqueur? a sloe gin?), they finally settled on "flavored" and got the darn bottles onto American soil. Perhaps the single most delicious spirit made by Four Pillars, the Bloody Shiraz is finally on our shelf and ready for you to consume it all! Four Pillars is located in Australia's Yarra Valley, one of the centers of serious wine production in the country. Every year during harvest time, the guys...

Gin Mare is a product we discovered in Scotland, of all places, years ago while searching for single malt. The retailer across the street from our hotel in Edinburgh was featuring the gin in a tasting that evening and we went over to check it out. Distilled in Spain with olives, rosemary, basil, and thyme, it's a savory and truly Mediterranean experience. The herbs never overpower the palate, however, as the balance between them is quite delicate and refined. It's definitely an ideal choice for martinis, paired with olives, of course.

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "There’s a lot going on in this gin, made with a mix of 29 botanicals, including California grapefruit, California bay leaf and a duo of mushrooms. Yet somehow, it all comes together: the opening salvo is spicy and bold with anise, pepper, and clove, before moving to a waxy lemon peel and juniper midpalate and finishing dry and dusty with suggestions of cocoa powder, coriander, and spicy grains of paradise. (KN)" (08/2019)

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Look for subtle fennel, licorice and sage notes on nose and palate, with a gentle, refreshing exhale that hints at lemon and lime peel. It is 'foraged from what grows in the mountains,' says the producer of this Irish gin's botanicals. (KN)" (08/2019) K&L Notes: This incredible Irish gin is a true terroir-driven product. They have a full-time forager (actually out foraging every day) and everything they pick goes into the still fresh, not dried. The result is a sustainable and intensely flavored gin. The slow distillation ca...

The name "Piùcinque," which means "plus five" in Italian, comes from the first recipe that was used to create this gin. Once the balance of the ten botanicals were defined, the next task was to work on their intensity. As the team was analyzing different combinations, they only found one with the perfect alchemy. This bottle was tagged by the master distiller with the wording "plus five" (as there was a greater intensity of five of the ten botanicals) and from this the name Piùcinque was naturally born. The flavors of sage, bergamot, and ginger are what ...

Distiller's notes: "KI NO BI SEI is our high-proof bottling. KI NO BI SEI is made with the same intricate production method as the original KI NO BI; using 11 botanicals distilled in six distinct flavour categories. The final blend has been recalibrated by our distilling team to bring out the best of each botanical at the higher proof. Wine Enthusiast: "Although the “Botanist” name might suggest a floral gin, instead the flavor profile veers toward herbs and spices. There’s a subtle, herbal scent, with anise flavors up front, backed by coriander seed and cassia bark on the spicy finish. Made by Bruichladdich Distillery, which is renowned for its Scotch, on a pot-still named Ugly Betty. Sold in an attractive, square-shouldered, gift-worthy bottle. Gracias a Dios Gin was developed by students at Oaxaca State University. This spirit is somewhat unique as it’s made with agave Espadin, like the majority of other mezcals. Specially bottled for Berry Bros & Rudd in London, this gin was created to exemplify the classic London Dry style. Unabashedly juniper-driven, the riveting No. 3 gets its name from the historic home of Berry Bros at No. 3 St. James Street in London, where they've been operating continuously since 1698. The No. 3 pushes tradition to the extreme using a simple 3 fruit and 3 spice recipe. The nose is all citrus and piney juniper. On the palate the juniper is balanced perfectly with spicy coriander and verdant cardamom. The finish brings the earthy telltale ...

This is NOT a rosé gin. It is a rose gin - as in the Irish rose. It's naturally colored and it's NOT sweet. You may have seen the ignoble genre of "pink gin" out there, jammed with artificial flavors, sweeteners, and color, but get that right out of your mind. This is the real deal. The gin starts out as the Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin, and then a variety of freshly picked rose petals, ranging from the original Wild Irish rose to large, fragrant heritage roses, and the ancient, prized Damask rose, all come together in the still and afterwards in a mac...

Wine Enthusiast: "One of a trio of new gins from this artisan distiller, this gin's claim to fame is that it was inspired by a hike on Mt. Tam, and the distiller describes it as akin to 'drinking a martini in a pine forest.' Some will find the juniper essence too strong, although it also reads as clean and bracing, and it's laced with a peppery finish. Botanicals include Douglas fir, fennel, bay laurel and sage. A portion of the profits from the gin are donated to support California wilderness. (KN)" (04/2012) K&L Notes: Distiller's notes: "An ode to t...

Gin was first made by Bordiga in 1889, and this gin is made from the original recipe. Only four main botanical flavors are used, some from the Occitan Alps, hence the name. The four are angelica, juniper, cardamom, and a secret ingredient (with traces of orange and lemon peel). Occitan Gin has traditionally been made exclusively from juniper that grows wild (not cultivated) in the Maritime Alps, near Cuneo, which are some of the highest mountains in Europe. This combination of altitude and maritime influence enriches the essential oils of the juniper ber...

We just picked up an exciting new local distiller called Venus Spirits, located in nearby Santa Cruz. Sean Venus has taken over the old Sarticious space and installed his own 600 liter Spanish alembic still to make a number of interesting concoctions. It's a snappy, fresh, citrus-oriented spirit at a very good price point. The creaminess of the gin is quite lovely and the lavender comes strong on the finish. Certified organic as well, so all of the botanicals come from a good place. Easily one of the most-polished and easy-to-like small production gins w...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Distilled from corn and finished with raw honey, this barrel-aged bottling is billed as a “modern day adaptation of Old Tom Gin,” a sweetened style. It has a burnished rose gold hue and the scent mingles honey and juniper. It's slightly sweet up front, with brisk pininess midpalate before it fades into vanilla and a surprising brush of peach. 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "The producer describes this gin made from raw honey as “dancing the line between an Old Tom and a London Dry style.” We'd say it edges closer to Old-Tom gins, thanks to its surprising sweetness and understated juniper. Look for notes of candied lemon peel, vanilla, white pepper, and a whisper of spicy cinnamon. A touch viscous, it's unusually mouth coating for a gin. Ransom spirits is a one-man, artisanal distillery in Sheridan, Oregon, run by Tad Seestedt. The Old Tom gin is made on an alembic pot still, and is an historically accurate replication of what people were drinking in the 1800s during the golden age of American cocktails (in fact, cocktail historian David Wondrich collaborated on the project). It has just a touch of sweetness, a golden amber color, and is made from malted barley and corn. One of the most fun products we've played with this year, it is versatile, but classically styled. A must for any seri...
