2000 Joël Taluau Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil Vieilles Vignes

Joël Taluau is a fabulous grower in St. Nicolas de Bourgueil known for making some of the purest expressions of Cabernet Franc in the Loire, unmarred by the intrusion of oak--which he hasn't used in production since 1986. He was also the first producer in the appellation to begin domaine bottling. The Vieilles Vignes, from a single plot of Cabernet Franc planted in 1934, is prized for its power, depth and grace. This flagship wine is meant to age, and the large format bottle will have helped to preserve freshness.

2000 Jacopo Poli "Vintage" Barrique Grappa (750ml) (Cannot ship- in store pick up only)

The presitigous Jacopo Poli distillery, located in Schiavon outside of the city of Bassano del Grappa, is one of Italy's premier artisan distillery. While the distillery has made its name distilling ultra elegant and nuanced single varietal Grappa, it is this exceptional product that seperates them from some of Italy's other top producers. Indeed, this exceptional aged Grappa transcends the category completely. First distilled in 1989, an expression of Toni Poli's personal style as a distiller and lover of Grappa, only 9 barrique were produced each year. ...

2000 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

98 points Wine Enthusiast: "A stupendous wine that epitomizes the Harlan style of grace and power. Shows how the most elaborate vineyard and winery practices can contribute to a near-perfect wine, even in a less heralded vintage. The flavors cascade in endless tiers, black currant, cherry, mocha, Indian pudding, oak and spice, all coming together in a minute-long finish. Magnificent. *Cellar Selection*" (11/2004) 94 points Decanter: "The 2000 Harlan Estate, a wine uncannily reminiscent of a 1990 Médoc, is at what seems to be a peak - or a plateau - of ...

2000 Clos du Marquis, St-Julien

94 points Wine Spectator: "The nose shows loads of plum, spice and meat aromas, as well as hints of licorice. It's full-bodied, with firm, yet velvety textured tannins. It's big and rounded. If you can't afford Las Cases, try some of this. Some might call this a second wine, but it comes from a plot of vineyards not deemed worthy of Léoville Las Cases. So it's like its own estate. Best after 2009. *Smart Buy, Top 100 Wines of 2003* (JS)" (03/2003) 91 points James Suckling: "This is very open with plum and sweet tobacco notes, and a round and juicy body ...

2000 Velier Caroni 17 Year Old "High Proof" Trinidad Rum (750ml)

From a stock of 7 barrels distilled entirely in 2000 and bottled at a magnificent 110 proof, this is the first "official" Caroni to be imported into the United States. It represents some of the final production from the renowned distillery on the Caroni plain's sugar plantation. When the state owned refinery closed, the famous distillery was not far behind. In 2005, the remaining stocks were sold to La Maison & Velier. Aged entirely on the Island of Trinidad, the tropical climate resulted in 80% evaporation due to the incredible heat and humidity. The ul ...

2000 Moulin-St. Georges, St-Emilion

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The finest Moulin St.-Georges ever produced, the exuberant, rich, textured 2000 boasts sumptuous aromas and flavors of creme de cassis and blueberry liqueur. The new oak is concealed by the wealth of fruit. While there is abundant tannin in the finish, it is both sweet and well-integrated. This seamless beauty, which is not terribly dissimilar from the perfect 2000 Ausone, is a sleeper of the vintage. 94 points Wine Spectator: "Tremendous. Ripe, rich, deftly balanced and deeply concentrated, yet with a wonderful sense of harmony and finesse. The flavors are sharply defined, built around cassis, currant, mocha and anise, with a long, luxuriant aftertaste." (10/2003) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon (450 cases) exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as a sweet nose of charcoal, blackberry, cassis, mineral, and Asian spice characteristics. But so much there. Just coming around now. Delicious. " (07/2013) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fully mature and very attractive, the 2000 Brane Cantenac, which started a succession of brilliant wines from this famous estate in the Margaux appellation, has a dark plum/ruby/purple color, a sweet, juicy nose of blue, red, and black fruits, and a hint ...

Thick, dense and suave, with vibrant flavors of licorice and violet. Already showing lively inner-mouth aromatics. Finishes very long, with thoroughly lush tannins. Should be an outstanding vintage for this wine. Dense and lush, with a restrained sweetness and hints of minerals and chocolate. Not a huge wine but boasts lovely intensity and vinosity. The first vintage of this wine to include some Merlot - no doubt at least partly due to the influence of consulting enologist Michel Rolland. Very sweet but very bright, with the perfumed quality carrying through on the palate. Highly concentrated but light on its feet, with intriguing herbal and tree bark notes from the mourvedre. 2000 Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "At 50,000 cases plus, this is as mass-market a wine as Brunello goes. But it’s a darn good one, with tobacco, citrus and herbs on the nose. Runs a bit simple and grapy on the palate, but it’s overwhelmingly ripe, healthy and full-force. Nothing tricky here, just clean cherry, plum and chocolate flavors sitting comfortably on a medium-to-full frame. Faugeres has turned out an opaque black/purple-colored 2000 displaying aromas of ink, blackberry liqueur, licorice, and toasty oak. Seamless, rich, and full-bodied, with even more weight and length than it revealed prior to bottling, it is a reasonably-priced, serious wine that merits attention from consumers. Delicious stuff! Mind-blowing on the palate, it’s an emotional and soulful red." (04/2014) 99 points Vinous: "The 2000 Latour is a wine that I feel is overlooked by many cognoscenti, goggle-eyed by the 2005 or 2009. " (02/2005) K&L Notes: While this elegant Pinot Noir is fashioned to resemble its Burgundian forbears, there is an intensity of fruit that makes its Californian roots well known. 99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Haut-Brion (a blend of 51% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc) showed incredibly at the tasting, and for me is one of the three or four most prodigious wines of the vintage. A compelling nose of roasted herbs, scorched earth, sweet blueberries, plums, black currants, and a hint of graphite is followed by a deep, layered, sumptuously textured, full-bodied Haut-Brion, but one with extraordinary complexity. The palate is underpinned by very fine tannins, a sensual, svelte texture with wonderful acidity. I tasted this wine four times from bottle, and it has blown away some tough competition. A wealth of fruit, power, and balance, amazing purity, and a sumptuous, 65-second finish are the stuff of legends. As usual, it is a blend of 45% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, and the rest Syrah as well as miscellaneous varietals.
