1994 Auchroisk 25 Year Old "Old Particular" K&L Exclusive Single Refill Hogshead Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)
Top Pick!
The most intimidating thing about this cask is its name. It's pronounced "Ah-thrusk." After that everything is easy. It was an easy decision to pick up this beauty. On specs alone it was a no brainer. It's not often we can offer that magical 25 year age statement for 130 bucks. One sniff of the glass and a quick taste and we confirmed we had to have it. Originally built by J&B, today Auchroisk is one of Diageo's workhorse distilleries in Speyside. In its younger forms it provides the nutty/spicy components to Johnnie Walker thanks to a fast and furious m...

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1994 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (OWC - 99RP, 95DC, 93VN) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Christian Moueix and his talented winemaking team continue to rewrite the definition of a Napa Valley reference point wine. I have had a difficult time keeping the corks in my bottles of 1994 Dominus. Eight-thousand cases were produced from a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot. In this vintage, 174 days passed between bud break and the harvest, a remarkable period of time for any wine region in the world. The 1994 is a strikingly thick, compellingly rich wine with the texture of a great Pomerol, despite being made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine exhibits a dense purple color, and an incredibly fragrant nose of jammy black fruits, spice, smoke, and loamy, truffle-like scents. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, with thrilling levels of extract and richness, but no sense of heaviness or ha

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1994 Whitehall Lane "Morisoli Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (92WS, 90RP). Wine Spectator: "Young, dark and concentrated, with sharply focused currant, black cherry, plum and spicy flavors, smooth, supple tannins and a long, rich aftertaste. Tempting now, but worthy of cellaring, too." (09/1997)
Starting Bid: $90.00

93 points John Gilman: "For current consumption, the 1994 Chave has been one of my favorite vintages for the last few years. It is not yet ready, but the forward and opulent fruit of this vintage have allowed the wine to drink well since its release. This bottle, like the last few, was superb, soaring from the glass with scents of crushed red and black raspberries, black pepper, grilled venison, hot stones, medicinal syrah tones, a bit of tar, herbs and a touch of toasty new oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and complex, with flawless bala...

100 points Wine Spectator: "Hold on to your hat. This is the best Fonseca since 1977, and it's probably even better than that classic vintage--more like the breathtaking 1948. Mind-blowing, with masses of color, aroma and fruit flavor. Smells like fermenting berries, boasting loads of crushed grape, violet and berry character. Big, full-bodied and very sweet, with tons of tannins and a sweet finish. Tannic and huge, it's a long-term, great Port. *No. 1 Top 100 Wines of 1997, Cellar Selection* (JS)" (04/1997) 98 points Decanter: "Tight knit – not giving...

1994 Taylor Vintage Port
Top Pick!
100 points James Suckling: "This is, to date, the greatest Vintage Port ever from here. It overwhelmed me years ago when I tasted it from barrel, but only now is it crossing gradually into its drinking window. The intensity is still mind-boggling here, with sweet-and-sour notes as well as mounds of clay. There are violets lurking somewhere too. A full-bodied, medium sweet and sublime Vintage Port, showing forest fruits and freshly picked blackberries on the palate in the form of a creamy, focused and tannic texture." (10/2014) 100 points Wine Spectator...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1994 reveals that vintage's sweeter fruit, and harmonious personality. It has a dark ruby/purple color, followed by plenty of blackberry and blackcurrant-like fruit in the nose, complemented by some subtle toasty oak. The wine displays a richer, riper personality than the 1993, medium to full body, more layers of fruit, and finer integration of wood, tannin, and acidity. It is an impressively-endowed, outstanding, well-balanced Cabernet that admirably reflects its Stags Leap origin. Hartwell's Cabernet Sauvig...

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The initial hints of secondary aromas (though no sous-bois) and that truffled earth character so often found in a classic Ruchottes merge into complex, intense and still moderately structured flavors where the finish retains just a hint of greeness, which suggests like many '94s the tannins did not achieve full maturity. Still, by the standards of the vintage, this is an unqualified success and while the '94 Ruchottes will not improve further, there is no rush to drink up." (11/2006) Jancis Robinson: "The 1994 Roumier Ruchot...

92-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Excellent deep, saturated color. Sexy aromas of black cherry, cassis, and toasty, smoky oak. Wonderful sweetness and texture, with terrific perfume. More pliable than the '95 Las Cases. Tannins are extremely well integrated for a cabernet-based '94. I don't find the austerity that Delon cites. (ST)" (05/1996) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Michel Delon, a great man, is the consummate proprietor, meticulously administering this vast estate spread out along the St.-Julien/Pauillac borde...

1994 Angélus, St-Emilion
Back In Stock!
92-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Black-ruby. Sweet, expressive aromas of bitter cherry, cocoa powder and caramel. Very sweet and very concentrated, but fresh and nicely defined. Intriguing gamey nuance. Substantial even tannins coat the mouth, but are buried under explosive finishing fruit. This wine shows considerably more personality, not to mention depth of fruit flavor, than the '95. A superb '94, and one not to miss. (ST)" (05/1996) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In the new classification of St.-Emilion, justice...

91 points Wine Spectator: "(#62 on Top 100 Wines of 1997) Young, tight and firmly tannic, this well-crafted California Cabernet slowly unwinds its core of ripe and delicious plum, black cherry, currant and spice flavors." (07/1997)

Bid on this bottle of 1994 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (96VN, 95DC, 92RP). Vinous: "What a pleasure it is to taste and drink the 1994 Opus One. Far better than a bottle I had last year, this bottle is absolutely terrific. Voluptuous, sexy and layered to the core, the 1994 races across the palate with superb depth and pure class. (AG)" (10/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1994 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Ducru is on a roll, with fine efforts over recent vintages, including an exceptional 1994, spectacular 1995, and what looks to be an equally profound, super-concentrated 1996. A top-notch effort in this vintage, Ducru-Beaucaillou's 1994 displays a dark purple color, a textbook, cassis, mineral, licorice, and floral-scented nose, medium body, outstanding extract and purity, moderate tannin, and a persuasively rich, sweet, spicy finish. Everything is well-integrated (including the tannin). This should prove to be a classic St.-Julien. " (02/1997)
Starting Bid: $300.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1994 Graham's Vintage Port (95RP, 95VN, 95WS). Vinous: "The 1994 Graham’s Vintage Port, which incidentally carries quite noticeable sediment, as there is no fining or filtration, is beginning to show a little bricking on the rim. The bouquet is very harmonious and welcoming, featuring aromas of mulberry, roasted chestnut, pressed rose petals, autumn leaves and a hint of liquorice. The nose is not powerful; rather, it displays a brooding intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin and lightly spiced with clove, pain d’épices and again, a scintilla of liquorice. Though it obviously has another 20 or 30 years in the tank, this mellow Graham’s is drinking beautifully now. Tasted at the Symington Tawny Port tasting at the Tower of London. (NM)" (12/2018)

1994 Heitz Cellar "Trailside" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Back In Stock!
92 points John Gilman: "The 1994 Trailside is aging beautifully and is still a handful of years away from its period of peak drinkability. The deep and complex nose offers up a superb mélange of red and black cherries, a touch of chocolate, cigar smoke, lovely soil tones, coffee and a deft touch of spicy new oak (now flawlessly integrated). On the palate the wine is full-bodied, suave and rock solid at the core, with a very classy profile, impeccable depth and focus and a very long, moderately tannic and complex finish. While it is not a crime to drink t...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From a 3-acre vineyard, four hundred cases were produced of this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak casks, it is a tightly-knit, black currant-scented wine with plenty of sweet oak, as well as powerful, rich flavors that have been melded into a restrained, elegant, authoritatively flavorful wine. Patience is mandatory as this black beauty needs 4-5 more years of cellaring; it should keep for two decades. (RP)" (12/1997) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Marked by spice, cedar and dill n...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It offers deep and compelling aromas of red and black fruits, lead pencil, and traces of oak spices. This full-bodied, concentrated, and chewy wine is thick, dense, and gorgeously defined for such a massive wine. Its combination of power and elegance brought to mind the 1986 Margaux, one of the finest wines ever produced by that illustrious estate... This is a truly magnificent wine, and it will age remarkably well... The dark ruby-colored 1994 Quilceda Creek is an extraordinary wine that deserves to be mentioned...

90 points Wine Spectator: "Shows off appealing currant, coffee, berry and spicy flavors, the texture is supple and polished, the finish is deceptively complex. (JL)" (03/1998) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I reported last year, Beringer's new proprietary red wine, Alluvium, appears to be an excellent product. Made from 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, production averages about 10,000-14,000 cases per year. The 1994 Alluvium is a textbook proprietary wine. It displays a dark ruby color, followed by an attract...

Bid on this 3L-bottle of 1994 Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac (3L) (93WS, 90RP). Wine Spectator: " *Top 100 Wines of 1997 and Cellar Selection* A luscious Lafite that is silky and elegant with layers of wonderful violet, berry, cherry and chocolate flavors. It's full-bodied, with racy, refined tannins and good length. Drinkable now, but best from 1999 and through another decade." (01/1997)

Of the 1994 Delaforce Vintage Port,Wine Spectator writes: "Wildly plummy, with a meaty, earthy character, and fabulously concentrated. Big, sweet and voluputous with loads of round tannins and a long, sweet finish. Best Delaforce in decades." (04/1997)

ZD Wines was established in 1969 by former aerospace engineers Norman DeLeuze and Gino Zepponi. They named the wine ZD, not only to signify the initials of their last names, but also as an acronym for Zero Defects, a term used at the quality control program at their former job at Aerojet. Zepponi unfortunately died in 1985, and DeLeuze and his family took full ownership. The winery experimented with several grape varieties over the years, but decided to narrow its focus to just Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon in 1987. ZD acquired land in Ru...

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I first wrote laudatory comments about Pesquera over a decade ago, so I am thrilled to see proprietor Alejandro Fernandez continue to build on his noteworthy track record. His new releases are splendid. What a joy it is to write about the 1994 Janus. Fernandez has only made this super-luxury cuvee in 1982, 1986, and 1991. The 1994 Janus may be the greatest Pesquera ever made. This wine is awesome in its richness, intensity, and potential complexity. It is a gentle giant, with no hard edges, and profound levels of...

Bid on this 3L-bottle of 1994 Margaux, Margaux (3L) (90RP, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The nose is intriguing: very open with a touch of mulch, graphite, mint and crushed flowers, very “old school”...hints of juniper. It is very well balanced and fresh, quite crisp with slight hints of undergrowth and tar. It trails off a little towards the finish, but maintains good balance. It is a little sharp and a little dry on the finish, but is drinking perfectly now. It deserves some lamb to go with it. Tasted November 2011. (NM)" (03/2012)

Clive Coates: "Groffier's example is more like that of Freddy Mugnier than that of the Domaine Roumier, that is on the lighter side, but this is nevertheless a firmer, more vigorous, more masculine wine than the rest of his Chambolles." (Cote D'Or: A Celebration of the Great Wines of Burgundy, pg 470)

Bid on this bottle of 1994 E. Guigal "La Landonne" Côte Rôtie (98RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "(From the 1997 note) The great glories of this house are its Cote Roties, of which there are now five separate offerings. The single-vineyard 1994s were singing loudly when I saw them in July. All of them scored significantly higher than they did during the two previous years, which is not unusual as Guigal's upbringing (elevage) of the wines results in better examples in the bottle than in cask. All three wines flirt with a perfect score. At this tasting, they reminded me of Guigal's 1982s - opulent, sumptuously-textured, forward, rich, precocious, flattering wines that will drink well throughout their lives. The fabulous 1994 Cote Rotie La Landonne, which is more dominated by toasty new oak than La Mouline and La Turque, is extremely muscular and powerful, with high tannin as well as fabulous extract. The wine reveals a dense, black/purple color, and a tight nose with plenty of pain
