1989 Latour, Pauillac

94 points Wine Spectator: "This is so decadent and exciting on the nose, with very ripe fruit, tobacco, meat and cedar. Full-bodied, offering amazing raspberry fruit in the core of the palate. Ultrapolished, velvety tannins wonderfully coat every inch of your palate. This will age for years ahead, but it's so lovely now. Much better than many people think. (JS, Web Only-2010)" 92 points Vinous: "The 1989 Latour conveys the warmth of the growing season with scents of warm gravel and wild herbs infusing the soft, perhaps slightly muffled black fruit. Ther ...

1989 M. Chapoutier "La Mordorée" Côte-Rôtie

Robert Parker writes: "Chapoutier's aim is to produce an exceptionally perfumed, soft, elegant cuvee of Cote Rotie, and a luxury cuvee that takes Cote Rotie's black-raspberry, exotic fruitiness and elegance to the limits of intensity, a la Marcel Guigal's La Mouline."

Top Pick!
1989 Couly-Dutheil "Clos de l'Olive" Chinon

Direct from the estate! Made from 100-year-old Cabernet Franc vines, growing on unique limestone and clay soil, this wine is dense and extremely complex. A magnificent example of a fine Loire red from what is arguably Chinon's greatest producer. Great aging potential, too. Full bodied and concentrated, a great vintage for Clos de L'Olive with abundant fruit, sweet rich mouthfeel and ripe juicy tannins. Very impressive wine for drinking well into its third decade. These wines evolve into the pinnacle of elegance, with haunting aromas of rich plummy fruit, ...

1989 Raymond-Lafon, Sauternes (375ml)

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1989 exhibits aromas of honeyed pineapple/tropical fruit and toasty new oak, as well as an exotic, flashy perfume that is not as pronounced in either the 1990 or 1988. The 1989 exhibits less botrytis than the other two vintages. The wine possesses an opulent, full-bodied, exotic, lavishly rich personality, moderate sweetness, and huge quantity of extract, glycerin, and alcohol in its finish. The wine is also extremely young and unevolved. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2025. " (01/1998) 90 points Stephen Tanzer ...

1989 Veuve Clicquot "La Grande Dame" Brut Champagne

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Yeasty, vinous, Pinot driven aromas of red berries and earth. Large-scaled and mouthfilling, with excellent intensity and subtle notes of apple, lemon and toast. Has a perfumed quality in the mouth. Subtle and very long and nicely balanced for the vintage. (ST)" (11/1998) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Assertive but not overt, this has toasty, nutty, buttery aromas and flavors, quite a dry balance, bright acidity and a broad but firm texture. Should develop even more flavor with time." (12/1998) 90 p ...

1989 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Wine Spectator: "A tight, tough, chewy 1989 that's intense and tannic, but graced with a wealth of fruit flavors. The rich cherry, berry, prune and plum notes turn smoky and complex on the long, full finish. Hands off until 1996 or '97 to allow the tannins to soften. *Cellar Selection*" (06/1993)

1989 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (99RP, 96VN, 96WS, 95ST, 94JG, 94JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1989 has taken forever to shed its formidable tannins, but what a great vintage of Lynch Bages! I would rank it at the top of the pyramid although the 1990, 2000, and down the road, some of the more recent vintages such as 2005, 2009 and 2010 should come close to matching the 1989's extraordinary concentration and undeniable aging potential. Its dense purple color reveals a slight lightening at the edge and the stunning bouquet offers classic notes of creme de cassis, subtle smoke, oak and graphite. Powerful and rich with some tannins still to shed at age 22, it is still a young adolescent in terms of its evolution and will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring. It should prove to be a 50 year wine. (RP) 99+" (08/2011)

1989 Louis Latour Montrachet Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1989 Louis Latour Montrachet Grand Cru (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Latour's 1989 Montrachet is the most backward of his 1989 whites. While the bouquet is unforthcoming, the wine is loaded with a steely acidity, massive richness, and possesses a mind-blowing finish. It tastes like eau de vie of buttered apples and liquid popcorn. Drink it between 1996-2010. This is an outstanding white burgundy by any standard of measurement. Don't miss it! (RP)" (02/1992)
