90 points John Gilman: "This most recent magnum of 1975 Canon was generously served by the team at the château after one of the recent En Primeur events held there. The wine is a very pretty example of the vintage, but ’75 is not quite as good in St. Émilion as it was in neighboring Pomerol, so this wine is in the good, but not great category of Canon vintages. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1975 Montrose, St-Estèphe (93DC). Decanter: "One of the better vintages of the 1970s, from an estate that was recognised to have been particularly successful right from the harvest and was spared the hail that affected some Médoc properties. Today, the nose is dominated by wonderful burnished tobacco, leather and truffle that are such classic markers of older Bordeaux. This is an older wine in its tertiary phase, no question, but it is soft and embracing rather than tired - it gives a shrug and invites you in. The aromatics are less clear than in its youth, but they are still warm, with rich wild strawberries and sweet blackberries burnished with the smoky embers of yesterday's fireplace. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1975 Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac (95JS, 90RP). James Suckling: "I absolutely love the nose of licorice, minerals, black currants, and berries. Full and slightly hard and acidic, but I could smell it all night. It softens and turns velvety and dusty on the finish with lots of fruit." (03/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1975 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (91DC, 90RP). Decanter: "Jean-Michel Cazes’ third vintage, and his records of the harvest note excellent weather conditions almost every day up in Pauillac. Harvest of Merlot began at Lynch Bages on September 25 (it had been expected to start on the 29th until the rains fell) and lasted until October 12th ( a Sunday when Cazes described the fermentations as going ‘very very well’). Only one or two vats needed chaptilisation because natural sugar levels were so high. On the nose, a touch of band aid suggests brett, but this soon clears and the wine is full of life. Tomato leaf on the attack, the mid palate has a seam of cassis and there is lovely menthol on the finish. This tasting was in bottle, and I followed it with a tasting from magnum a week later. The magnum had held up far better, with rich dark fruit flavours still abundant. (JA)" (10/2015)
