Bid on this bottle of 1968 Beaulieu Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Beaulieu Vineyard was built up into a Californian great by the legendary winemaker André Tchelistcheff from 1936 to 1973. Tchelistcheff was a chemist by training and he pushed innovation and quality to ever higher levels. The BV winery reached its high point at the end of the 1960s, expanding its distribution and quality to become the definitive California winery of that era. Of course, everything that goes up must come down and 1968 was the year that ownership moved from the hands of Mme Le Pin to the conglomerate Heublein. Great wines continued to be produced afterwards, but the innovative atmosphere of Tchelistcheff was on the way out in favor of maximizing revenue and increasing production. A wine from before The Fall. Ed Mc Carthy, Mary Ewing-Mulligan: "1951 and 1968 are Beaulieu Vineyards true all-time standout Cabernet Sauvignon vintages." (California Wine for Dummies)

*Special Order Only Based On Availability From The Distributor* Charles Maclean’s Tasting Notes… Cask No. 13504.“Amber with long-lingering beading. A mellow nosefeel, with slight prickle after a while. The highly perfumed initial aroma – scented hand-cream, attar of roses, carnations – reduces in time, infused by notes of almond oil and oak shavings, with a trace of vanilla. A drop of water enhances the wood notes. A smooth texture and a sweet taste, drying in the spicy finish, with a suggestion of Friar’s Balsam medicine and a cooling mentholic aftert...

Bid on this bottle of 1968 Heitz Cellar Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Heitz Cabernet ’68 has a lovely nose of Hoi Sin, liquorice, cedar and autumn leaves that seems to be undiminished by age, maintaining great definition and vivacity, more Old World than New. The palate is very well balanced with solid tannins but no shortage of finesse with hints of dried orange peel, mirin and star anis towards a finish that surely must have been so decadent during the 1970s. It takes its foot off the pedal towards the finish with a comparatively dry, tobacco finish but by then I am more than happy. (NM)" (06/2010)

*Special Order Only* *Based on availability from distribution* Charles Maclean’s Tasting Notes… Cask No. 13508. “18 carat gold in colour surprisingly good beading for its strength. A slight prickle on the nose and a complex, mellow aroma which is at once fruity and herbal – crystallised greengages, dusty dried mixed herbs – with an elusive whiff of scented smoke, a trace of cigar boxes and after a while a hint of candlewax. The texture is oily and the taste sweet and centre palate, with some saltiness and peppery spice in the long warming finish and a ...

Bid on this bottle of 1968 Beaulieu Vineyard "Special Label" Rutherford Burgundy. Extremely rare to find a bottle of BV from the time when the de Latour family still owned the estate (it was sold to Heublein Inc. in 1969) and the renowned winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff was still at the helm, fashioning most of California's best wines to date.
