2012 Saxum "Heart Stone Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Heart Stone Vineyard is 43% Syrah, 41% Grenache and 16% Mourvedre that was aged mostly in concrete (the ’11 was aged 100% in concrete) yet also saw some new and neutral puncheons. Fermented with 40% whole clusters, it’s a big, burly effort that has beautiful creme de cassis, black raspberry, crushed violets, vanilla bean and exotic flower-like qualities all emerging from the glass. It too has a structured feel, with high, yet ripe tannin, so short-term cellaring is also advised here. (JD)" (08/2014) 92 ...

2017 Booker "My Favorite Neighbor" Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon

94-97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 My Favorite Neighbor is in the same ballpark and offers terrific notes of crème de cassis, tobacco leaf, lead pencil shavings, and cedary herbs. It’s a full-bodied, silky, impeccably balanced beauty that has just subtle background oak, a stacked mid-palate, and terrific purity of fruit." (11/2018) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A barrel sample blended of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 10% Petit Verdot, the 2017 My Favorite Neighbor Proprietary Blend is deep garnet-purple in color and a little ced ...

2016 Tablas Creek "Esprit de Tablas" Paso Robles Rhône Blend

94-95 points Vinous: "Bright violet. Smoke-accented cherry and blackberry aromas are complemented by suggestions of candied licorice, musky rhubarb and cracked pepper. Chewy and broad on entry and then tighter in the midpalate, offering concentrated dark berry preserve and spicecake flavors and a sweet touch of candied violet. Closes on a recurring floral note, showing impressive persistence and suave, even tannins. 93 points James Suckling: "So balanced and refined with a blackberry and mineral character. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a polished and beautiful finish. Drink now. " (12/2016) 93 points Vinous: "Dark purple. Powerful blueberry and cherry cola scents pick up spice, woodsmoke and floral nuances with air. Fleshy and broad in the mouth, offering juicy, impressively deep black and blue fruit flavors that show outstanding energy and focus. 2017 Booker "White" Paso Robles White Blend

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2017 White is in the same ballpark and reminds me of a top Hermitage Blanc from Michel Chapoutier. Quince, honeysuckle, buttered citrus, marmalade, and white flower notes all flow to a full-bodied, concentrated, yet beautifully balanced white that does everything right. It’s that perfect match of richness and freshness, not to mention awesome purity." (11/2018)

2010 Carlisle "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Smoke, tar, incense, licorice and game literally explode from the glass in the 2010 Syrah James Berry Vineyard. A deep, imposing wine, the 2010 shows the more masculine side of Syrah in its flavor and structure. Big tannins frame the broad, explosive finish. This isn’t a subtle wine by any means, but it is full of personality. The James Berry Syrah was made with about 17% whole clusters. Allspice and star anise notes emerge with air and carry onto the palate, adding complexity to sweet red and blue fruit flavors that show excellent clarity and spicy lift. Shows strong, fruity thrust on the youthfully tannic finish, which echoes the spicy notes. 2006 Copain "Les Copains--James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhone Blend

The delightfully pure, refreshing Les Copains from the famed James Berry Vineyard in Paso Robles blends equal parts grenache and mourvèdre to great effect. The soil profile at James Berry is similar to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which explains why these two bold varietals thrive, and produce such a balanced wine. The 2006 vintage is a bit lighter in style than the 2005, highlighting the cool growing season. Jasmine, bay and raspberry aromas give way to raspberry and garrigue flavors. Already accessible, this wine will continue to drink well over the next five ...

2016 Hearst Ranch Winery "Three Sisters Cuvée" Paso Robles Red Blend

90 points Vinous: "Opaque ruby. Oak-spiced cherry and blackberry on the deeply perfumed nose. Lush, sweet and broad on the palate, offering smoke-accented dark fruit flavors and a touch of mocha. Showing its oak, for sure, but there's a good amount of fruit here to back it up. Finishes smooth and long, with lingering smokiness and a hint of candied licorice." 2018 Giornata Paso Robles Fiano

Winery Notes: "Clean and stony, our Fiano lends itself to a simple stainless-steel fermentation and maturation in the cellar. The 2018 was sourced from two neighboring vineyards in northwest Paso Robles that produce intensely flavorful fruit with plentry of lively acidity. Destemmed and crushed in the early a.m., the grapes are left to soak on its skins for a few hours before a delicate basket pressing. It then proceeds untouched through alcoholic and partial malolactic fermentation, then filtered and bottled in mid February. Tasting notes: Along with ...

Made from 42% Syrah, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Petit Verdot, it's a supple, seamless and elegant wine that gives a small window into the quality and style from this terrific estate. 2004 L'Aventure "Cuvée Coincidence" Paso Robles Red

The Templeton Gap area of Paso Robles, where the fruit for this wine was grown, ordinarily experiences a cooling, maritime trend in late-summer and early fall, creating huge diurnal temperature swings (100-degree days, cool, 55-degree nights). But in 2004, this trend did not kick in and the hot days gave way to simmering 80-degree nights. The results? All the grapes to ripened at the same time! Winemaker Stephan Asseo used this unique, coincidental opportunity to create this unique blend of co-fermented Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot. Only 10 ...

2018 Ridge Vineyards Adelaida District Grenache Blanc

The history of Ridge Vineyards began in 1885, when Osea Perrone, a doctor who became a prominent member of San Francisco’s Italian community, bought 180 acres near the top of Monte Bello Ridge. He terraced the slopes and planted vineyards; using native limestone, he constructed the Monte Bello Winery, producing the first vintage under that name in 1892. This unique cellar, built into the mountainside on three levels, is Ridge’s production facility. "This is our first grenache blanc bottling. Our well-established white winemaking methods were used. 2018 Aaron "Aequorea" Spanish Springs San Luis Obispo Pinot Gris

Winemaker's notes: "This is one of my favorite wines to make each year, because I believe that producing a truly stunning Pinot Gris is actually quite difficult. Modeled after an Alsatian style of PG, its focused on texture and elegance, with the perfect combination of richness and ultra bright acidity. 2017 Field Recordings "Franc" Paso Robles Cabernet Franc

Andrew Jones learned to make wine from the ground up. He started as a vine nursery fieldman, planting and planning vineyards for wineries all over California. This gave him first-hand knowledge of nearly every vineyard on the Central Coast and a knack for finding "diamonds in the rough." Meanwhile, he was building friendships with some great California growers, who'd often offer him small lots of their best grapes on the side. From these beginnings he has built a catalog of delicious, affordable wines that hum with personality.
