2007 Cayuse "Impulsivo - En Chamberlin Vineyard" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Impulsivo has an elegant, seamless and layered profile, with lots of bloody meat, blackcurrants, wild herbs and licorice giving way to a full-bodied, ripe, yet perfectly balanced palate. There’s superb overall freshness here, and it has terrific mid-palate concentration, with ripe tannin. The buzz words here are balanced and elegance, yet as with most of Christophe’s wines, it doesn’t give any ground on texture or richness. (JD)" (06/2015) 92 points Vinous: "Good deep ruby. Complex, slightly reduced no ...

2009 Gramercy Cellars "Inigo Montoya" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tempranillo seems to be gaining a toehold in eastern Washington and there now is sufficient evidence that it can turn out well when farmed correctly and made by talented people. Gramercy’s offering, the 2009 Tempranillo Inigo Montoya is one of the better ones. Exotic spices, tobacco, truffle, violets, and blackberry aromas inform the nose of a savory, elegant, nicely proportioned, intensely flavored wine. This lengthy effort has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years and will deliver prime drinking from 2013 to ...

2016 K Vintners "El Jefe" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The ruby/plum-colored 2016 Tempranillo El Jefe Stoneridge Vineyard reveals a meaty, savory, smoky style to go with a medium to full-bodied, concentrated style on the palate. Some classic tar and asphalt notes as well as cold fireplace develop with time in the glass and it has present yet silky tannins, beautiful overall balance, and a great finish. It’s a terrific expression of this variety that will keep for at least a decade." (04/2019)

2013 Cayuse "Impulsivo" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Cayuse "Impulsivo" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo (97RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the wines of the vintage is the 2013 Impulsivo. Made from 100% Tempranillo and with only 214 cases made, it has incredible notes of bloody meats, cold fireplace, black cherries, currants and cedar. This gives way to a full-bodied, concentrated, structured 2013 that will benefit from 4-5 years of cellaring and drink well for a decade or more past that. Drink from 2021-2031. (JD) 97+" (06/2016)

2014 Cayuse "Impulsivo" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Cayuse "Impulsivo" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo (98RP, 94VN, 93JS, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Road tar, shiitake mushroom, black cherry, crushed flowers and graphite all emerge from the 2014 Impulsivo, which is a full-bodied, ethereally textured, structured Tempranillo that has insane purity and length. While it started out downright earthy and umami, it gained more and more fruit as it sat in the glass, has a beautiful mid-palate and a finish that won’t quit. Nevertheless, this firm, tannic wine needs to be forgotten for at least 4-5 years. (JD) 98+" (06/2017)

2016 Cayuse "Impulsivo" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2016 Cayuse "Impulsivo" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo (98JD, 94JS, 93WE). Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Impulsivo is all Tempranillo comes from the En Chamberlin Vineyard and was brought up in 50-60% new French oak. It's a deep ruby/purple-colored effort and reveals a stunning bouquet of cassis, black cherries, smoked earth, gravelly minerality, and cedary spice. Still tight, backward, and vibrant on the palate, it another one of the 2016s that's going to need 3-4 years of bottle age. 98+ " (04/2019)

2012 Cayuse "Impulsivo" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Cayuse "Impulsivo" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo (99RP, 93VN, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another wine that flirts with perfection is the 2012 Impulsivo. Showing the heights Tempranillo can hit in Washington State, this blockbuster offers tons of purple fruits, crushed rocks, exotic spice and spring flower characteristics to go with a full-bodied, fabulously concentrated, structured feel on the palate. What really sets this apart is the purity of fruit. In addition, this cuvee ages brilliantly, and doesn't start to really hit maturity until around age 8-10. This beauty will have 20-25 of overall longevity and is one thrilling drink! Drink from 2020-2035. (JD)" (06/2015)

2011 Cayuse "Impulsivo" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Cayuse "Impulsivo" Walla Walla Valley Tempranillo (97RP, 94DC, 94WE, 93VN, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Tempranillo Impulsivo is easily the top example of this variety coming out of the New World. Classic in style with its singed cedar board, spice, earth, dried flowers and plum and blackberry styled fruit, this puppy hits the palate with a structured, full-bodied profile that needs 3-4 years of cellaring to round into form. While I haven’t been able to taste many aged example of this cuvee (it was first made in 2003), I can’t imagine it not evolving gracefully for at least 10-15 years. (JD) 97+" (06/2014)
