95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Wild herb, perfumed berry and pressed rose aromas lift out of the glass along with a whiff of eucalyptus. Smooth, delicious and balanced, the lithe palate has great tension, doling out juicy red cherry, raspberry compote, star anise and baking spice backed up by vibrant acidity. Silky tannins give it extraordinary elegance and linear structure. It won't take years to come around but it also boasts good midterm aging potential. *Editors' Choice* (KO)" (02/2019) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Like most producers in ...

Wine Enthusiast: "Vibrant and poised, this charming red opens with scents of red berry, iris and aromatic herb. The luminous palate offers red cherry, mint and orange zest while a firm vein of acidity and supple tannins provide freshness and an easy-drinking structure. (KO)" (12/2016) K&L Notes: The Podere Brizio has just over 28 acres of Sangiovese vines destined for Brunello, Brunello Riserva and Rosso. The wines are aged in 54-hectolitre Allier French oak casks. That one big barrel holds the equivalent of 24 of the most familiar size of wine barrel,...

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Fragrant and loaded with finesse, this radiant, full-bodied red opens with enticing scents of ripe black-skinned fruit, iris, cake spice and a whiff of camphor. On the linear yet delicious palate, elegant tannins and bright acidity support succulent black cherry, plum and licorice before a lingering tobacco finish. Drink 2021–2029. *Editors' Choice* (KO)" (05/2019) 92 points James Suckling: "There’s a handy array of quite ripe red-berry and cherry aromas here that lead to a palate that has attractive red cherries with soft, ...

2014 Poggiarellino Brunello di Montalcino
Top Pick!
Poggiarellino is a small property in the north of Montalcino and is not far from Altesino, they started making wine with the 1996 vintage and slowly grew their production, K&L started importing their wine with the 2000 vintage. Their Brunello di Montalcino production is usually about 450 cases to 500 cases and about half of that number for the Rosso di Montalcino. The Brunello is aged in 25hl Slavonian oak barrels and the Rosso di Montalcino is aged in stainless steel tanks.

2014 Villa Poggio Salvi Brunello di Montalcino
Top Pick!
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "The nose is initially shy but eventually reveals wild berry, crushed aromatic herb and a whiff of rose petal. The elegant vibrant palate delivers juicy Morello cherry, baking spice and a hint of star anise accompanied by polished tannins and racy acidity. (KO)" (05/2019) Jancis Robinson: "Youthful mid ruby. Concentrated and firm dark-fruit nose. Plenty of ripe dark fruit and ripe chewy tannins. Very long and well balanced. 2014 Sesta di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino
Top Pick!
93 points Vinous: "Moderately saturated ruby-red. Exotic mineral- and citrus-driven aromas of red cherry, blue fruit liqueur, blood orange and Asian spices, with a sexy floral nuance gaining strength with air. Supple and expansive on the palate, showcasing sweet red cherry and rather savory dark plum flavors lifted by just enough bracing acidity. Densely packed for a 2014 Brunello, at once fleshy and broad but also lively and precise, showing excellent power and cut on the strikingly long finish, characterized by youthfully dusty tannins and a hint of ca...

95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Geremia, Rocca di Montegrossi's Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon blend, is another compelling wine in this range. Today, the Geremia is perhaps a bit austere, but at least some of that is attributable to the personality of the vintage. Time in the glass brings out an attractive range of sage, menthol, licorice and dark red/purplish fruit. I very much like the energy and drive here. (AG)" (02/2019) 94 points Wine Spectator: "An intense red, boasting an expressive range of kirsch, raspberry, floral, mineral and spice flavors, nic...

2014 La Fortuna Brunello di Montalcino
Top Pick!
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Wild herb, underbrush, rose, leather and red-berry aromas take center stage on this. The lithe racy palate offers sour cherry, orange zest, licorice and hints of tobacco and espresso set against polished tannins and vibrant acidity. (KO)" (05/2019) Jancis Robinson: "Just mid ruby. Soft cherry and spice on the nose. Quite light and elegant with a pure, sour-cherry core and grainy tannins. (WS)" (01/2019) Vinous: "Bright red. Aromas and flavors of strawberry, blood orange, muskmelon and herbs make for a seductively perfumed ...

92 points Vinous: "Luminous red. Perfumed aromas of red cherry and berries are complicated by sweet spices, minerals and herbs. Bright, penetrating, and rather subtle in its delivery of a juicy, satisfying ensemble of red cherry, blood orange and licorice flavors. The mouthfeel is firm but nicely ripe, and the invigorating long finish is laced with zingy floral and mineral notes. A lovely, precise 2014 Brunello from a relatively new producer worth watching, as I was impressed by his wines last year too. (ID)" (03/2019) 91 points James Suckling: "An att...

94 points James Suckling: "Aromas of blueberries and blackberries with hints of minerals. Full body, very fine tannins with orange peel and currant character. Chewy yet polished tannins. Better in 2018 but already delicious. Impressive for the difficult 2014 vintage." (07/2016) 92 points Vinous: "The 2014 Oreno is an intense wine with tremendous depth and pure power. Smoke, tobacco, menthol and earthiness add nuance throughout, but it is the wine's explosive energy that stands out most today. The incisive tannins need time to soften, but if they do, th...

2014 Mocali Brunello di Montalcino
Top Pick!
90 points James Suckling: "The rose-petal and stewed-fruit perfumes in this are curious. It’s medium-bodied, firm and chewy with a medium finish. Drink or hold a year or two." (06/2019) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Dark flavors of black cherry and blackberry are equally matched by dry, dusty tannins in this lush version. Stays bright and focused, picking up an earthy accent on the lingering aftertaste. Best from 2021 through 2033. (BS)" (06/2019) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine opens to a lean ruby color with pretty raspberry highlights. The ...

93 points Vinous: "Vivid red. Raspberry, red cherry, rose pastille and licorice on the deep nose. Enters powerful and round, with red fruit flavors lifted by tangy floral notes and vibrant acidity, showing very good depth of fruit and focus. Finishes with an increasingly light touch, at once silky and vibrant, with a core of minerality conveying an impression of elegance on the long back end. One of the top five Brunellos of the vintage. (ID)" (03/2019) 92 points James Suckling: "Some slightly flinty notes with dried-wood notes and charcuterie, as well...

96 points James Suckling: "Sexy blueberry, spice and black pepper. Mushroom. Full body and ultra-fine tannins. Extremely long and just starting to come around now. Needs a little more time in bottle. Splendid finish. Try in 2019 but already amazing." (04/2017) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Saffredi is on the market now, but could use more time to age and develop. The bouquet is slow to open and once it does, it shows dark fruit intensity with blackberry and dried cherry at the front. The are tight aromas of spice, cured leather and...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Here's a bit of breaking news. When I went to the winery to taste this wine, it was geared up to be classified as a Brunello di Montalcino. The idea was to use the best fruit that could be obtained from the Bassolino vineyard in this difficult vintage. Only 3,000 bottles plus a few magnums were made. Just hours after my tasting, I got an email from proprietor Caroline Pobitzer saying that the Brunello I had tasted, would in fact be declassified as Rosso. In effect, the 2014 Rosso di Montalcino Bassolino has the D...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I've always said that Jan Hendrik Erbach is a maniac when it comes to the details. This wine is normally called "Vigneti del Versante," with the Italian word for vineyards ("vigneti") in plural because fruit comes from more than one site, but just this one time, the wine is called "Vigneto" (in the singular tense) because fruit was sourced from a single vineyard instead. The 2014 Brunello di Montalcino Vigneto del Versante sees fruit sourced from the Scopeta vineyard (planted in 2003), and this single-vineyard ex...

95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Il Carbonaione is one of the truly exceptional wines of this challenging season. Lithe and aromatic on the palate, with fabulous energy and overall brightness, it stands out for its superb balance. In many vintages, Il Carbonaione can be a bit bombastic. The 2014, on the other hand, is all finesse. Violet, lavender and cloves add shades of nuance to this bright, beautifully persistent Carbonaione. The 2014 won't be at its best for at least a few years, but its potential is evident. (AG) 95+" (01/2018) 94 points James Sucklin...

93 points James Suckling: "Some smoky notes with savory and sanguine aromas, as well as deeply spicy red cherries. The palate delivers an impressively concentrated core of red-cherry and red-plum flavor. The tannins are succulent and the depth is good for this vintage." (06/2019) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Fuligni 2014 Brunello di Montalcino is a beautiful wine. To my mind, it represents one of the best interpretations you will find from this difficult vintage that caused so much unease. The Fuligni family shows a deft hand, resultin...
