From the Rüdesheimer Drachenstein vineyard, this Erste Lage (premier cru) site sits at the top of the slope adjacent the forest. This situation encourages a broad day/night temperature swing which heightens the wine's freshness and vigor in what is Germany's warmest wine region and a particularly warm 2018 vintage. This combines to render a wine that punches well above its price point in a particularly ripe year. Importer's Notes: "Extraordinarily aromatic, vigorous wines from a vintner who grows more commanding each vintage. This is the wine that once w...

91 points James Suckling: "Attractive aromas of flowers and stone fruit here. This has a very fresh feel. The palate is succulent, precise and elegantly delivered with some honey, ripe peaches and hints of mangoes. Seamless, concentrated and dry." (09/2019) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Rheingau Riesling Trocken offers a shiny, bright and intense, wonderfully aromatic and coolish Rheingau Riesling nose with great precision and even flinty notes. Lush and fine, with good grip and great elegance, this is a remarkably fine and classic...

Importer's notes: "Dragonstone....gone bubbly! All the character and quality we know and love undergoes secondary fermentation—the outcome of which is light, bright and just plain tasty. Finished at 20 grams/liter, this is an exciting addition to the Leitz portfolio."

Vinous: "This high-volume Spreitzer cuvée has gone from being noticeably albeit understatedly sweet to now exhibiting the sort of sub-threshold residual sugar that can engender supportive 'hidden sweetness' in German Riesling. (That impression of relative dryness may be partly a function of relatively high acidity this vintage.) (DS)" (08/2019) Wine Spectator: "Clean and precise, showing direct flavors of lime and quince, with sage notes emerging midpalate. All aspects of this are lovely now: texture, flavors and balance. Not too complex, but superele...

91 points James Suckling: "This is a blend of many parcels of younger vines and higher-elevation plantings and it has a very fresh, vibrant and vivid lemon-citrus nose with a succulent, smooth and intense palate. Elegant and very impressive. Drink now." (09/2019) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From younger vines cultivated from the three crus of the domain plus fruit from the Wasseros, which is located above the Gräfenberg, the 2018 Kiedricher Riesling Trocken displays a bright color and an intense and concentrated bouquet with white fruit a...

98 points James Suckling: "Very intense ripe apricots, peaches and mangoes. This is so fruit-focused and smells of rich, ripe fruit. A sense of grandeur here. The palate has incredible intensity and powerful, ripe fruit that is pitched against extreme acidity. The result is almost overwhelming concentration of flavor and length. Such intensity and balance. Wow! Drink or hold." (09/2019) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From golden-yellow (not pink) grapes that were slightly shriveled at 100° Oechsle and lost 30% of water, the lemon-yellow colo...

96 points James Suckling: "A very complex array of pure and intense citrus fruit with grapefruit, lemon, kumquat and lime. Minerals and flowers add interest, too. The palate is phenomenal, so melded together with a perfect fusion of acidity and sugar, which is the essence of great Spätlese. The ripe peaches and mangoess are stunning. So long and so balanced. Incredible. Drink or hold." (09/2019) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: ""I love this wine," says Wilhelm Weil, who remembers the 1971 that he loved so much when he was still a child and sto...
