2015 Terroir al Limit "Torroja" Priorat
Top Pick!
93 points James Suckling: "Plenty of blue fruit and granite aromas with hints of violets on the nose. Full body, firm and linear with very fine tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Vertical and focused. Drink now." (07/2017) 93 points Wine & Spirits: "Dominik Huber selects garnacha and cariñena from vineyards between 50 and 70 years old for this village wine. He begins the vinification with whole clusters, letting ambient yeasts do the work, then moves the juice into cement tanks and foudres to finish fermenting. It’s a pure and deliciously fresh e...

2016 Black Slate "Porrera" Priorat
Top Pick!
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Black Slate Porrera comes from a project of importer Eric Solomon focusing on the specific villages in the Priorat. The 2016 is 60% Grenache and 40% Carignan that was mostly destemmed and spent a full year in used barrels. Thrilling blue fruits, tar, rose petals, and a smoky, marine, iodine-like character all emerge from this full-bodied effort that opens up nicely with time in the glass. Tasting like it cost three times the price, it picks up more minerality with time in the glass, has beautiful balance, and great purity...

96 points James Suckling: "Amazingly vivid cherries, wild herbs and licorice. Stunning texture on the palate, thanks to the great tannins that make it leap and bound over the palate. The finish is devastatingly fresh and mineral. Just beginning to reveal its depths. Drink or hold. (JS)" (12/2018) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The old-vine Cariñena 2015 Arbossar has a distinct note of licorice that grows in the glass. By working the vineyard with compost, they have managed to increase yields around 15%, and they feel the grapes achieve bette...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A 60/40 blend of Garnacha and Cariñena from the vineyard that names the wine, the 2016 Planetes de Nin saw a similar vinification and aging as the 2017 I tasted next to it, so the differences found were only due to the vintage and the moment of harvest. This is a fresher vintage, with tantalizing aromas that are subtle and elegant, with notes of violets and red cherries, nuanced and ever-changing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and nicely textured, with very fine tannins and fine chalky minerality. 9,10...

Here is a Priorat that is not at all shy or trying to hide its Mediterranean origins, a richer, fuller bodied style especially considering its modest price. That said, the wine has become increasingly fresher, a development that is particularly apparent in this juicy, well delineated 2016. It is a well-balanced, tasty blend of Garnacha, Carignane, and just a tiny amount of Cabernet Sauvignon.

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2016 Laurel is sensational stuff and, in truth, matches several older vintages of the grand vin in quality. A blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 16 months in a mix of oak, concrete, and amphora, this deep purple-colored beauty offers up a fresh, vibrant bouquet of blueberries, crisp plums, violets, and spring flowers. Possessing full-bodied richness, beautiful depth of fruit and richness, and a fresh, elegant style, it’s a brilliant wine that’s going to evolve gracefully for 10-15 years." (...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Stony white-fruit aromas are made more complex by a distinct note of lees. This Garnacha Blanca feels tangy and citric, with a medium-full body and layering that breeds complexity. Flavors of orange and tangerine finish fresh and firm. (MS)" (08/2016) James Suckling: "This shows aromas and flavors of wet slate, green olives and green apples in the background. Fruity and enjoyable white. Priorat made from garnacha blanca. Drink now." (12/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The unoaked white 2015 Gotes Blanques is pure Gar...

92 points Vinous: "Deep, lurid ruby. Primary red fruit aromas and a sexy floral quality on the highly perfumed, smoke- and spice-accented nose. Smooth and concentrated on the palate, offering cherry liqueur, raspberry, lavender pastille and spicecake flavors that pick up succulent herb and mineral nuances as the wine opens up. Fleshy yet energetic in style, delivering impressive finishing punch and harmonious, slow-building tannins that don't detract from the wine's inviting fruit. (JR)" (04/2019)

91 points James Suckling: "A dense and tangy white with dried pineapple, apple and lemon-rind character. Full body. Thick yet fresh. Drink now. " (07/2019) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The fruit-driven and young 2018 Font de la Figuera Blanco has aromas of white fruit and a touch of fennel and Mediterranean herbs. It's fresh and has nice balance, balsamic flavors and a dry, faintly bitter finish. It ends quite tasty and with focused, pure flavors. (LG)" (08/2019)

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The otherworldly 2015 Les Manyes is a completely different Garnacha from Priorat, as it comes from a high-altitude vineyard on clay and limestone soils with a total absence of slate. From a cold terroir at 800 meters in altitude, this is very perfumed, floral, exuberant and open, nuanced, elegant and complex. The wine also has structure and concentration but doesn't show it—or just shows it in a subtle way. This has an electric palate with lively, almost citric acidity. Every year the wines seem to be better... W...

2001 Alvaro Palacios "Finca Dofi" Priorat
New!
93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The estate-grown 2001 Finca Dofi, fashioned from tiny yields of 20 hectoliters per hectare, was aged in 100% new French oak. A blend of 60% Grenache, and the rest Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot, it appears to be the finest vintage of this cuvee I have yet tasted. Inky/purple to the rim with a sweet nose of creme de cassis, blackberries, minerals, and a hint of acacia flowers, this intense, opulent, full-bodied, seamless 2001 is already accessible. (RP)" (04/2004) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's Inte...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The estate’s flagship wine, the 2002 Vall Llach, is a blend of 50% old vine Carignan, 35% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. A deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by lovely aromas of crushed blueberries, minerals, high class smoky oak, and acacia flowers. It possesses medium body, wonderful sweetness, beautiful fruit, and nicely integrated acidity and tannin. (RP)" (06/2005) 93 points Wine & Spirits: "No tasting note given." (12/2004) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(A blend of 50% o...

95 points Wine Spectator: "Powerful and intense, this Spanish red is as ripe and rich as young Vintage Port, bursting with flavors of black cherries and blueberries, chocolate and coffee, supported by muscular yet round tannins. An impressive achievement in an age of blockbuster wines. Best after 2003. 500 cases made. (TM)" (06/2001) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The superb, opaque purple-colored 1997 Tirant exhibits sweet, concentrated, jammy fruit intertwined with notions of asphalt, pepper, liquid minerals, and subtle spicy wood. A full-...

2016 Alvaro Palacios "Les Terrasses" Priorat
Back In Stock!
Produced from a blend of Garnacha (55%) and Cariñena (45%), most of which is purchased from high quality fruit sources in various villages of Priorat, this is an excellent vintage of Les Terrases. Ripe and clean red fruit aromas are punctuated by notes of fennel pollen. More red fruits on the palate show a touch of licorice, lots of freshness and satisfying, subtle bitter notes towards the finish. This is Priorat! (Joe Manekin, K&L Spanish wine buyer)
Price: $39.99

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The spellbinding 2009 Clos Martinet is a blend of 65% Garnacha (including some Garnacha Peluda), 18% Carinena, 11% Syrah and the rest a mixture of Cabernet and Merlot, although these are being replanted with traditional varieties such as Garnacha. Interestingly, it was aged in concrete tank for 24 months rather than oak in order to retain the essence of terroir, and what an awesome result! It has a life-affirming, elegant, sophisticated nose that manages the heat of the growing season with effortless ease while m...

2016 Clos Erasmus Priorat
Back In Stock!
99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Not far off the magical 2013, the 2016 Clos Erasmus shows the purity and freshness of the vintage yet backs it up with rock star depth of fruit and richness. A huge nose of blueberries, crème de cassis, blood orange, and violets give way to a full-bodied Priorat that has flawless balance and purity, a stacked mid-palate, ripe tannins, and a finish that goes on for over a minute. This is pure, elegant, yet powerful Priorat at its finest. The 2016 is a blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah that spent 18 months in 40% new oak. Give bot...

Wine Spectator: "Plum, chocolate and cola flavors mingle in this round, firm red. Mineral and earth accents add depth. A bit reserved now, but harmonious and rich. (TM)" (11/2007) K&L Notes: This wine is a blend of Cariñena and Garnacha, a popular red wine blend used in southern France and northeastern Spain (particularly Catalonia). The two grapes involved – Cariñena and Garnacha (known respectively as Carignan and Grenache in France) – are very traditional in this part of Europe, which straddles the Pyrenees Mountains.

2017 Alvaro Palacios "Finca Dofi" Priorat
New!
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The single-vineyard 2017 Finca Dofí comes from ten hectares that were planted 20 years ago in the village of Gratallops. It's mostly Garnacha with 8% Cariñena and 1% white grapes that fermented after being destemmed and lightly crushed in oak vats with indigenous yeasts. It matured in large oak barrels (bocoyes and foudres) for 16 months. There is no trace of oak in the wines, and there are no edges; they all feel sleek and elegant. This Dofí expresses the Mediterranean vintage from this vineyard at 300 to 320 me...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The riper and warmer 2015 Clos Figueres fermented in new 500-liter French oak barrels and matured in French barriques for 14 to 16 months. There is a tad more ripeness compared with the 2014, but there are no signs of excess. It's powerful while keeping its poise and manages to come through as balanced within its full body and plenty of tannins. A powerful red Priorat true to the vintage. I think it's a matter of taste if you like 2014 or 2015 better, because quality is pretty homogeneous. 4,525 bottles were fill...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The powerful, ripe and heady 2013 La Basseta is 80% Garnacha and the rest Cariñena. The Garnacha is from a 15-year-old vineyard on decomposed slate and sand soil at 600 meters altitude, while the Cariñena was planted some 12 years ago from a massale selection of old Priorat vines on deep clay soils with slate at 300 meters altitude. The nose is very fragrant, floral and intoxicating. The two grapes fermented separately, as they are harvested with almost two weeks difference, with 35% of the Garnacha in full clust...

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Manyetes Vi de Vila Gratallops combines the rustic personality of the warm place—the slate soils and the old Cariñena vines—and the freshness of the 2016 vintage. It has those telltale notes of graphite and wet slate, some tree bark-like aromas and an earthy touch, intermixed with violets, wild herbs and berries. Simply stunning! (LG) 96+" (08/2019) K&L Notes: PLEASE NOTE: This product is offered as a complete case in original packaging. If the wines are going to be shipped upon arrival, the bottles w...
