1945 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Riserva
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1945 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Riserva. From the winery: "With the cellar founded in 1761, Giacomo Borgogno e Figli is among the oldest names associated with wine in the Langhe region. The legendary Borgogno Barolos are classics in the history of Italian wine, and the estate has an extensive library collection. This library has been meticulously safeguarded over the decades, even through the mid-20th century’s geo-political upheavals, precisely to allow the select Barolos to age 10 years or more in the cellar. Giacomo Borgogno e Figli remains committed to this practice and to providing wine drinkers the opportunity to enjoy well-aged Barolo. Though Cesare Borgogno changed the name of the estate in 1967 to Giacomo Borgogno e Figli, he continued to vinify wines from the family’s land holdings following their centuries-old traditions. The Borgogno family cared for the estate for 247 years until 2008 when they sold it to the Farinetti family, who promised t

2009 Gaja "Gaia & Rey" Chardonnay
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Gaja "Gaia & Rey" Chardonnay (92VN). Vinous: "The 2009 Gaia & Rey (Chardonnay) is relatively laid back in this vintage. Soft, floral and perfumed, the 2009 opens up beautifully in the glass with juicy pears, apricots, white flowers and a gentle hint of spices. This is a pretty Gaia & Rey that impresses most for its textured, layered personality. The prominent oak and riper, more tropical style typical of prior years seems to be a thing of the past. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Braida Barbera d'Asti Bricco dell'Uccellone (94WE, 92JS, 92RP). Wine Enthusiast: "One of Italy's most iconic wines, this structured red opens with heady aromas of red berry, menthol and dark spice. Those alluring qualities carry over to the full-bodied, inviting palate, along with raspberry compote and licorice notes. Firm yet velvety tannins and bright acidity provide balance and the structure to age. Drink 2019–2029. (KO)" (11/2017)

1985 Fontanafredda Barolo "Vigna La Rosa"
Bid on this bottle of 1985 Fontanafredda Barolo "Vigna La Rosa". From the winery: "Since 1878, the Fontanafredda Estate & Winery, located in the heart of Piedmont’s Langhe region, has been a benchmark producer of Barolo and Barbera, crafting wines that deftly balance deep aromas and concentration of fruit with elegance. The 250-acre Fontanafredda Barolo cru property in Serralunga d’Alba is the single largest contiguous wine estate in the Langhe. Additional properties in the communes of Barolo and Diano d’Alba bring the total acreage of estate-owned land to 305. The ability to source fruit from some of the Barolo region’s most prized vineyard sites provides Fontanafredda with grapes of the highest quality. All estate vineyards are managed to achieve a “zero chemical” program, using only natural methods for fertilization and pest control. The vineyard team is working with their grower partners across the region to transition them to the same eco-friendly farming standards. The Fontanafre

1947 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Riserva
Bid on this bottle of 1947 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Riserva (92VN). Vinous: "For fun, I decide to open the 1947 Borgogno Barolo, a much, much humbler wine, but one I thought would be interesting to taste next to the de Vogüé. The Borgogno had one previous owner, and the condition of the bottle is remarkable. It isn't a great wine, but there is a purity and frankness to the fruit that is striking in its beauty. This wine was tasted at the Fourth Annual Truffle Charity Dinner in November 2011. (AG)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate-Le Coste" Barolo (96VN, 94JS, 93RP, 93ST, 93WS, 92WE). Vinous: "Dark cherries, plums, cloves, violets, incense, orange rind and tobacco meld together in the 2009 Barolo Brunate-Le Coste. A massive, powerful Barolo, the 2009 boasts stunning depth, power and richness, all in a relatively open style for this estate. 1999 Scarpa Barbaresco Tettineive
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Scarpa Barbaresco Tettineive. From importer Porto Vino: "Antica Casa Vinicola Scarpa has been producing traditional wines in the Monferrato hills of southeast Piemonte since 1854. But it was Mario Pesce, admired by both Giacosa and Gaja, who made Scarpa’s reputation in the second half of the 20th century. Traditional sometimes means ‘rustic’, but that’s not the case here. A very present gusto della casa (house style) produces elegant wines with arrow-like acidity and well-aged tannins."

1959 Marchesi di Barolo Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1959 Marchesi di Barolo Barolo. From the winery: "The Marchesi di Barolo estate encompasses approximately 430 acres of vineyards in the Langhe, some of the finest in Piedmont, including the prestigious Cannubi cru. The cellars are in the village of Barolo, overlooking the Renaissance castle of the Marchesi Falletti di Barolo. Barolo as we know it today was first made in the early 19th century by the Marchese Carlo Tancredi Falletti di Barolo and his wife, Giulia. The wine from their estate soon became known as “the wine from Barolo”, served at important diplomatic and royal functions. The Marchesi had no children and following the death of the couple, the Marchesi di Barolo dynasty was left without an heir. Per the wishes of Marchesa Giulia, a great philanthropist, the family assets were donated to charity and a non-profit foundation was created in their name, “Opera Pia Barolo”, helping the needy of nearby Torino. The sales of wine from their Barolo vineyards con

2007 Rinaldi "Annata Brunate - Le Coste" Barolo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Rinaldi "Annata Brunate - Le Coste" Barolo (96RP, 96WS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Brunate-Le Coste is a regal, aristocratic Barolo. Firm tannins keep some of the extroverted qualities of the vintage in check. This shows marvelous inner minerality and coolness, with deep layers of fruit, menthol, licorice and tar that fill out the wine’s broad shouldered frame. The Brunte-Le Coste shuts down pretty quickly in the glass, suggesting it may be headed for a period of dormancy. Today, it is flat-out stunning. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2038. (AG)" (10/2011)
