1978 Bruno Giacosa "Bussia di Monforte Riserva Speciale" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1978 Bruno Giacosa "Bussia di Monforte Riserva Speciale" Barolo (97VN). Vinous: "Medium evolved ruby. This 1978 is nothing short of spectacular in its profoundness. Although the nose shows some evolved notes such as tobacco, there is still plenty of sweet, perfumed fruit, which blossoms on the palate, with incredible persistence, and a lingering note of menthol to round out the exquisite finish. Like the 1978 Monfortino that would follow, the 1978 Bussia appears magically young, although it is a decidedly more delicate and medium-bodied wine. Though fully mature, this shows no signs of fading. Pure magic in a bottle. (AG)" (10/2005)

1982 Gaja "Sori Tildin" Barbaresco
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Gaja "Sori Tildin" Barbaresco (95JG, 95VN). Vinous: "The 1982 Barbaresco Sorì Tildìn, on the other hand, was awesome. It revealed superb depth in its core of generous fruit, with superb concentration as well as balance. It was a memorable wine in every way. In the late 1970s and 1980s Gaja often waited to harvest until very late in the growing season in order to achieve the ripeness he was looking for. 1982 was the last vintage made with this method as subsequent vintages brought warmer weather than had previously been the case. 1978 Bruno Giacosa "Santo Stefano" Barbaresco Riserva
Bid on this bottle of 1978 Bruno Giacosa "Santo Stefano" Barbaresco Riserva (100JG, 99VN). John Gilman: "I have had the good fortune to taste the 1978 Santo Stefano Riserva from Bruno Giacosa on many occasions- despite no longer owning any bottles in my personal cellar- but, I have never had one as flawlessly mature as this most recent bottle at The Rare Wine Company tasting. To my mind, this is absolutely perfect Barbaresco and I could not imagine a finer bottle, as the wine soars from the glass in a celestial aromatic blend of cherries, orange zest, fresh herb tones, gloriously complex soil nuances, gamebirds, coffee, lavender, woodsmoke and a lovely, autumnal topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and beautifully vibrant and bouncy, with bottomless depth, laser-like focus and magical complexity and grip. The finish is stunning, with still a fair bit of ripe tannin to resolve, tangy acids and profound length and complexity. This is just perfect Barbaresco that is only

2009 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate-Le Coste" Barolo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Giuseppe Rinaldi "Brunate-Le Coste" Barolo (96VN, 94JS, 93RP, 93ST, 93WS, 92WE). Vinous: "Dark cherries, plums, cloves, violets, incense, orange rind and tobacco meld together in the 2009 Barolo Brunate-Le Coste. A massive, powerful Barolo, the 2009 boasts stunning depth, power and richness, all in a relatively open style for this estate. I imagine the 2009 will drink well relatively early for top-flight Barolo, but it has fabulous class and intensity. (AG)" (10/2013)

1978 Alfredo Prunotto Barbaresco Montestefano Riserva
Bid on this bottle of 1978 Alfredo Prunotto Barbaresco Montestefano Riserva. The Prunotto estate is one of the legendary names of 20th-century Piedmont. Founded in 1923 by the revered Alfredo Prunotto, the estate became a benchmark for quality and excellence in the region, a reputation that would continue after Prunotto sold the estate to his long-time friend and fellow legend, Bepe Colla. This wine hails from a period when Colla was at the top of his game. In short, it's Piedmont history in a bottle.

1982 Bruno Giacosa "Santo Stefano" Barbaresco Riserva
Bid on this bottle of 1982 Bruno Giacosa "Santo Stefano" Barbaresco Riserva (97VN, 96JG, 93RP, 90WS). Vinous: "At its best, the 1982 Barbaresco Riserva Santo Stefano is one of the greatest wines I have ever tasted from Bruno Giacosa. Sweet red cherry, raspberry, rose petal, mint and hard candy give the wine its sensual, inviting personality. Medium in body, persistent and beautifully focused, the 1982 is a Riserva that speaks to power over finesse. Readers fortunate enough to own the 1982 will want to check in on their bottles. Although the 1982 will hold for at least a few years, it won’t get any better than it is today. It would be a shame to miss the 1982 at its height of expression, as it is a truly magical bottle.
