Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Cadaretta has turned out a fine 2015 Columbia Valley Sauvignon Blanc (there’s roughly 11% Semillon in the blend), and it's clean, crisp and steely, with notes of citrus, crushed rock and green herbs. It drops off on the finish but is a refreshing, well-made effort that's going to shine with seafood or tapas. (JD)" (06/2017) Wine Enthusiast: "Sauvignon Blanc makes up a full 89% of this blend. It offers light aromas of melon, grass, tropical fruit and citrus that are followed by tart zingy flavors, with the concentration s...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Lemon balm, pink grapefruit pith and a touch of sour cream show on the nose of this bottling, which quickly freshens up into more citrus elements as it sits open. There is strong tightness to the palate, where fresh lemon, nectarine and warmer pineapple tones are dusted with acidity and sea salt. (MK)" (12/2018)

A particularly rare California sparkling wine produced by Don Baumhefner who had been inspired by late disgorged Bollinger to let his wines rest "en tirage" for years. The San Francisco Chronicle's Esther Mobley fell in love with Baumhefner's 1992 and was excited to report in December 2017 that he had released another wine he discovered in Lake County that had come from a vineyard in Carneros. Mobley writes: "The 2010 Blanc de Blancs smells heady, wafting sweet bread dough. It’s rich, nutty and creamy, and more direct than Baumhefner’s 1990 and 1992 vint...

2015 Georges Vernay "Les Chaillées de l'Enfer" Condrieu (Elsewhere $125) (Elsewhere $125)
Top Pick!
95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A bigger, richer wine in every way, the 2015 Condrieu Les Chaillees De L'Enfer is a seriously good, hedonistic beauty that's loaded with caramelized peach, hints of apricot, brioche and white flowers. It's a big, rich, powerful wine, yet it has terrific elegance, nuances and length." (01/2018) 95 points Wine Spectator: "This flirts with an exotic character, as apricot, peach, persimmon and nectarine flavors vie with one another, while racy white ginger, honeysuckle and bitter orange notes add energy and range through the finish....

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Noticeably richer and more textured, with buttered citrus, honeysuckle, crushed rock, brioche and sautéed peach notes, the 2014 Condrieu les Chailles de L'Enfer is a rich, medium to full-bodied, impeccably-balanced effort that has more than a passing resemblance to its bigger brother, the Coteaux du Vernon. (JD)" (12/2016) 94 points Vinous: "Vivid yellow. Expansive aromas of nectarine, ripe citrus fruits, mango, fresh fig and pungent flowers and a hint of smoky minerals in the background. 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve exudes notes of creme de cassis, marmite, some dried herbs and meat with a touch of menthol. Full and generous, it has great mid-palate weight supported by a crisp acid line and medium-firm, fine-grained tannins. It finishes long. Drink it now to 2024+. (LPB)" (02/2014) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "The wine now bears a South Australia appellation because the fruit is coming from Langhorne Creek. This vintage clocks in at 15.5% alcohol, with nutmeg ...

91 points Wine Spectator: "This intense and vibrant red is powerful yet graceful, with black licorice, cola, fresh earth and black cherry flavors. Deceptively elegant and detailed. Drink now through 2020. (JL)" (05/2013) Connoisseurs Guide: "Wispy suggestions of pine and green herbs sit just to the side of cherry-like fruit in the nose here, but the wine shows no such distractions in its flavors and instead reveals far deeper and more plentiful fruit than promised. Medium-full-bodied, lithe and well-balanced with a slight acidy snap to its strawberry-l...

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: " Good ruby-red. Black raspberry, smoked meat, mocha and brown spices on the nose. Fleshy and sweet but with an enticing juicy quality to the slightly reduced flavors of bitter cherry, dark berries and smoked meat. Finishes round and long, with lingering sweetness. A very successful blend. (ST)" (05/2008) Wine Spectator: "Dark, intense and concentrated, with mineral, currant, dark chocolate, cassis, licorice, strawberry and cherry flavors. Polished and balanced for such a big wine, with a long finish. Tempran...

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cumulus Vineyard #4 is an off-the-hook effort that showed even better than last year. Made from 44% Syrah, 32% Grenache, 12% Petite Sirah, 8% Mourvedre and 4% Touriga Nacional, it’s mostly destemmed (24% whole cluster) and aged 30 months in 30% new French oak. It boasts incredible aromatics of cassis, blackberry, white chocolate, flowers and spice-box to go with a full-bodied, incredibly pure, seamless and textured feel on the palate. 95 points James Suckling: "This is powerful and racy with lots of class. Full body, very sweet with lots of spicy botrytis character. Intense. Drink or hold. " (10/2012) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Classic Sauternes, treading the fine line between sweetness and elegance. Initially, it seems to be dominated by the botrytis, but then sweet fruits also show, with ripe yellow fruits, honey and almonds, touched with citrus. As it develops, the wine will become richer and more intense. (RV)" (06/2008) 92 points Wine Spectator: "There's beautiful ripe fruit...

About the producer: "In 1999 fulfilling a lifelong dream, following our passion for great pinot noir and dared by the devil to succeed we ripped the virgin ground and started picking by hand the ancient volcanic rocks preparing to plant the most provocative, seductive and magical wine varietal in the world, Pinot Noir. The Clouds Rest vineyard is situated at a lofty 1250' elevation on Sonoma Mountain in the heart of the Sonoma Coast appellation. Planted in unique volcanic soil on the rocky hillsides, our grapes ripen with warm days and cool evening ocean...

95 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Deep, rich, ripe and focused, this wine charms from the outset with aromas that are spot on for varietal precision and smell of the complex, layered best of the West Rutherford Bench. Its combination of currant and black cherry notes with hints of root beer and sweet loam are followed on the palate by a supple entry, balancing acidity and by the solid framing of long-grained, polished tannins. Like its aromatic character, its flavors are writ large and writ precisely, and while no one is going to mistake it for a quiet, nua...

More balsamic and less primary on the nose than the 2005, offering an essence of currant and smoky earth and a whiff of cabernet franc leafiness. Slightly edgy acidity and serious, somewhat drying tannins suppress the wine's underlying sweetness of fruit today, making it tough going. Tracing their history back to 1365, Domaine des Lambrays holds nearly all of the famous Clos des Lambrays vineyard. Ownership of the Domaine changed hands many times since the French Revolution. Although the vineyard was given Premier Cru classification in 1936, the wines produced in the thirties and forties have long been hailed as legendary by critics. The vineyard was promoted to Grand Cru in 1981, so many older bottles have been relabeled to reflect that change.

94 points Wine & Spirits: "Protracted drought made for extremely low yields at this vineyard in a foggy valley on the west side of the Santa Cruz Mountains, just six miles from the ocean—and the result is a wine with a precise, concentrated freshness. At first, it feels like a well-balanced, typical California Chardonnay: warm, spicy fruit and biscuity richness. As it takes on air, it reveals more intensity and depth of flavor, building toward flashes of succulent peach flesh and stony peach pit, and the snappy spice of nectarine skin. Age it for a few y...
