Launois "Cuvée Reserve" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
This 100% estate grown, Grand Cru blanc de blancs is made entirely with old Chardonnay selections from Mesnil, Cramant, and Oger. This is our number one most re-purchased Champagne, and it is often sold out!
Price: $34.99

The Veuve Clemence gets four years of aging on the lees to the Reserve's three, and comes from older vineyards. They are both entirely estate-grown, Grand Cru Chardonnay. Before now, this cuvée was only available for the French market, but because of our great relationship with Launois, we were able to convince them to sell us a little. If you like it, don't hesitate--they may not have more for us the next time I order. While the wine certainly has mid-palate power, it is a dry, serious Champagne that loves to be paired with shellfish and is a wonder wit...

Wine Club
$34.99

A winemaking cooperative in the Mâconnais comprising members who seek out the most "secret" plots of earth to make their distinctive wines. 100% Chardonnay from the appellation of Milly-Lamartine and described by the winery as an "intense and generous wine."

Launois "Quartz" Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
The Quartz all comes from the famous Chettilons parcel and has four atmospheres (59 psi) of pressure instead of the normal six (88 psi). While I would be hard pressed to tell by looking at or tasting this Champagne that it has lighter carbonation, it tastes very different from the Reserve due to the wonderful vineyard site. Since less yeast and sugar were added to the wine during bottling, it has less leesy flavor, and because there is less dissolved carbon dioxide in the wine the flavors of the grapes underneath shine more. Look for flavors of apple and...
Price: $39.99

This exotic, all-Mesnil Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs is made in oak barrels coopered from oak grown in Mesnil. It is named after Severine Launois, the current generation making the wines. We were only able to secure five cases of this!

Franck Bonville Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
90 points Wine Spectator: "Lightly floral, this creamy crowd-pleasing Champagne shows good balance, with a lively mix of Honeycrisp apple, passion fruit and smoked almond. (AN)" (12/2015) Jancis Robinson: "100% Chardonnay from Oger, Cramant, and Avize. From a 50-ha estate. Olivier Bonville is the third generation to make wine here. Super-clean fresh nose, smells like a health scrub. Vigorous mousse. Crisp edges and a creamy middle, streaked with verbena. More green than lemon, and just slightly sour. Quite weighty and substantial yet with a cutting ed...

Alexandre le Brun is a young, ninth generation winemaker in Monthelon in the Ardenne (Marne) region of Champagne. His family established themselves in Champagne in 1750 and their cellars were built in 1822. We were very pleased to meet him and are very excited to carry his wines.

2017 Vignerons des Terres Secretes Macon Verze "Croix Jarrier"
Top Pick!
90 points Decanter: "Open, generous creamy stone fruit aromas lead to concentrated citrus freshness and a tangy, saline attack. Complex, rounded and textural." (06/2019) K&L Notes: A winemaking cooperative in the Mâconnais comprising members who seek out the most "secret" plots of earth to make their distinctive wines. The Mâcon-Verzé is 100% Chardonnay.

2018 Château Vitallis Macon-Fuissé
Top Pick!
Wine Enthusiast: "Apple flavors and a light texture give this wine an open character. Acidity, bright fruitiness and zesty orange peel enhance the wine’s freshness. It is ready to drink. (RV)" (04/2020) K&L Notes: Founded by the Dutron family in 1835, Château Vitallis is run today by winemaker Dennis Dutron. It is an estate of about 40 acres, including 5 acres in Macon-Fuissé. From the importer: "The estate is known for its old vines, some of which are over 65 years old. The average age is 35 years. The vineyards are situated on Southeast facing slopes...

88-90 points Vinous: "The 2018 Chablis is a very pretty wine. Dried pear, almond and dried flowers give the Chablis lovely aromatic complexity and nuance. Soft, silky and expressive, the 2018 is promising. (AG)" (01/2020)

2007 Thiénot "Black Ball" Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne (Previously $120) (Previously $120)
Top Pick!
Absolutely incredible opportunity on this creamy, supple Blanc de Blancs that still has great focus and precision and superior, long, mineral finish. Like all of the Thienot vintage wines, this bottling is entirely estate grown from the family's nearly 70 acres of vines. From the winery: "In 1985 Alain Thiénot launched his eponymous Champagne House, driven by his experience as a courtier and close-knit relationships with Champagne growers. This was quite a challenge in a sector where the greatest names began their existence as early as the 18th century. ...

2012 Launois Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
The Underground Wine Letter says it best: "Launois Champagne was founded in 1872. Today, the Launois family owns nearly 46 acres of vineyards mostly in the Grand Cru village of Mesnil. All Launois Champagnes are Blanc de Blancs and all are Grand Cru. This producer consistently makes some of the very best Blanc de Blancs Champagnes, and the quality/price ratio is exceptional. This is a must visit if you are in Champagne, not only for the fabulous Champagne, but to visit Bernard Launois's private museum. It encompasses a large portion of the Mesnil villag...

Philippe Gonet "3210" Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
94 points Vinous: "Gonet's NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs 3210 is striking in its beauty. A layered, beautifully textured wine, the 3210 stands out for its pure class. The classic Mesnil Chardonnay and chalk notes are totally alive in a broad, large-scaled Champagne loaded with class and pedigree. The no dosage style works beautifully here. The 3210 is a blend of fruit from Mesnil and Montgueux (in the Aube), two very different but highly complementary terroirs. (AG)" (11/2013) 92 points Wine Spectator: "A subtle thread of ground cardamom and clove spic...
Price: $39.99

The Bonville family owns 50 acres of Grand Cru vineyards and uses exclusively estate fruit in this wine. This Champagne is a great example of how much more wine you get for less money compared to a big name non-vintage Champagne when the export brokers, import companies and distributors are taken out of the deal. This is 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay from Avize, Oger and Cramant and one hell of a wine. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)
Price: $44.99

2017 Domaine Renaud Mâcon-Charnay
Top Pick!
Domaine Renaud is a small operation, making Mâcon, Pouilly-Fuissé, and St. Veran from 12 hectares of estate vineyards. Their cellar is modern, and they use upright ovals for many of the wines, and stainless steel for others. This value is a great alternative to California Chardonnay and an entry into white Burgundy.
Price: $19.99

The Ariston's vineyards are vastly different than those of the other blanc de blancs producers that we carry. The steeper slopes, less chalk and more fossils in the soil of Brouillet make for a rich, creamy style Chardonnay Champagne that will appeal to just about anyone. This is one of my favorite toasting Champagnes. All of the flavors are up-front and it's open-knit and fun. It is a perfect way to start a party. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)
Price: $19.99

Boulard-Bauquaire "Trepail" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne Vieilles Vignes
Top Pick!
This Champagne comes from one plot of 70-year-old Chardonnay vines in the Montagne of Reims village of Trepail. It is aged for three years on the lees. The Champagne has a chalky, creamy, bready nose, and a concentrated impression on the palate. As one would expect from such ancient vines, it delivers the goods on the finish with plenty of chalk as well as a bit of honey and white fruit. This makes a perfect aperitif, but will also pair well with seafood such as seared scallops or even raw oysters. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)
Price: $39.99

Wine Spectator: "Direct, with subtle apple and citrus notes. Shows hints of white pepper on the finish. Drink now. (AZ, Web Only-2020)"

Allen Meadows writes: "Jacques Bavard is a former Paris restaurateur and a fifth generation Puligny winemaker. He lives in the old stone house of his grandfather on the Grand Rue. However, he is not farming his family vines but has become a micro-négoce working closely with several growers. Bavard prefers early picking since he believes Burgundy needs nervous energy to better display its terroir. He works with a mix of conventionally-sized barrels (and with 350 liter barrels) with the goal of obtaining more volume on the mid-palate but with less wood inf...

91 points Wine Spectator: "Richly spiced, with ground anise, clove, ginger and cardamom, this offers a lively bead, fresh acidity and flavors of quince, honey, pastry dough and golden raisin. Offers a soft, creamy finish. (AN)" (12/2012) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This has finesse and elegance, with a thin stream of bubbles and crisp, dry apple flavor. It is taut with a cool feel. Price: $69.99

This great bottle comes from the far northern edge of Champagne in the Massif St-Thierry, north of Reims. All of the vines for this 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Meunier cuvée come from Cormincy, the last village in Champagne before the flats facing out towards the Ardennes. As one would expect from a Blanc de Noir, this is a full-bodied wine with plenty of savory red fruit flavor. Due to its far northern provenance, this Champagne also has great snap and refreshment to balance out its power. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Denois’s non-vintage Chardonnay Brut Blanc de Blancs. Legally, this “traditional method” wine is merely a vin mousseux, yet it is in fact a tribute to the terroir of Limoux (whose sparkling wine appellation must be based on the local Blanquette de Limoux a.k.a. Mauzac grape, for which Denois evidently has little respect). It will be hard to find a more delicious and interesting sparkling wine for the price. Ripe apricot, grapefruit, blueberries, and lily in the nose lead to an intensely pit-fruited palate that – despite a ...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This particularly powerful wine comes from selected parcels in one of Fuissé’s best climats. Oak aged for 18 months, it has weight and density commensurate with its alcohol. Rich yellow fruits combine with acidity to give a balanced wine, textured and with aging potential. Drink from late 2020. (RV)" (04/2020) K&L Notes: Vitallis is a new "hidden gem" our buyers found in the Mâcon, where small producers fly under the radar. In classic Burgundian fashion, the Dutron family has been growing vines since 1835, and now owns some ...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Spicy and toasty, this wine comes from Denis Dutron and son Maxime’s oldest vines, in the family since 1835. It offers richness as well as fresh fruits. Textured with minerality as well as apricot and lime flavors, this wine is just approaching maturity. (RV)" (04/2020) K&L Notes: Vitallis is a new "hidden gem" our buyers found in the Mâcon, where small producers fly under the radar. Courtois Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Top Pick!
This all-estate Blanc de Blancs comes from the western edge of Champagne in Crouttes-sur-Marne. Here the soil is a mixture of limestone, clay and chalk and give rich wines with plenty of weight. This wine is very full bodied, even grassouillette, making it perfect for an end of winter aperitif. It will also go very well with all manner of savory pastries and pâté. The wine itself is loaded with buttery brioche and comes across decadently loaded with toast. The best thing about the wine is how focused and fresh it is on the finish- this is dry and long wi...

2018 Château Vitallis Pouilly-Fuissé "Les Vignes du Château"

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "As its name suggests, this wine comes from vines planted around the chateau that has 13th-century origins. Structure and strong minerality balance bright apple and citrus flavors. With spice and a tangy character, the wine will certainly develop. (RV)" (04/2020) K&L Notes: Now almost two centuries old and situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Fuissé, Château Vitallis is one of the few major estates in the region. They cultivate 40 acres of high quality vines across the appellations. The estate was founded by t...

Top Pick!
Once in a great while you find wines from the Mâcon so good that tasting them blind you might think they're from a much higher (and more expensive) appellation. Often, such a wine comes from hillside vineyards, with better drainage and cooler nights. This one example, harvested from the slopes below the giant monolith of rock that is Solutré. Top Pick!
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Boillot's emblematic 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère has turned out brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, hazelnut, dried white flowers, citrus oil, blanched almonds and smoke. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with terrific concentration, searing levels of extract and a long, mineral finish. 94 points James Suckling: "Attractive yellow citrus, lemons and very chalky oyster shell minerals. White peaches and dried flowers too. The palate has a super fine acidity. Elegant, long and very mineral. This has real tension and energy. Drink or hold. " (07/2018) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A bottling that regularly excels chez Dauvissat, the 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Séchet opens in the glass with delicate aromas of citrus peel, grapefruit, crisp green apples and white flowers, with only subtle hints of the oyster shell to come. 90 points Vinous: "Pale yellow. A bit more exotic on the nose than the Tillets, offering scents of pineapple, citrus peel and dusty stone. Similarly ripe in the mouth, but with its broad lemon and lime flavors given shape by surprising acidity and pungent notes of herbs and stone. Lovely old-vines density and intensity here. The limey finish is dry, fresh and long. Javillier is about to replant a portion of these very old vines. Outstanding sparkling wine from the Languedoc? Absolutely and resoundingly, YES! There will be those of you who scoff at the price of this wine, and claim that a sparkling wine set so low will never be worth any serious consideration. Well, those of you would be WRONG. One of the rising stars of the Languedoc, Jean-Louis Denois makes exciting, world class wines that nonetheless remain amazingly inexpensive, owing to his location more than anything else. His vineyards sit in the very southwestern corner of France, at the foot of the Pyrenees, and he produ...

2018 Domaine Henri Boillot Bourgogne Blanc
Top Pick!
William Kelly in Wine Advocate: "Guillaume Boillot has now joined father Henri as this 19-hectare enterprise, where domaine-grown grapes are supplemented by purchased fruit from prime sources along the Côte d'Or, Guillaume superintending the reds while Henri occupies himself with the whites. If this division of labor is as strictly adhered to in practice as it is on paper, it certainly seems to work very well, as Boillot's 2017 portfolio is unambiguously impressive. … The whites—all of which are fermented and matured in larger, 350-liter barrels—are simp...

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A classic Meursault nose of hazelnut, white peach and soft pear aromas gives way to fresh, vibrant and energetic middle weight flavors that culminate in a lingering if mildly bitter finish. My note assumes that the bitterness will quickly dissipate as I suspect that it's sulfur-related." (01/2011) Wine Spectator: "Loosely knit, featuring baked apple and grapefruit flavors with a touch of spice. This is rich, just lacks focus, ending with echoes of apple and spice.
