Having been born in Rio de Janeiro into a very proud French/Portuguese family, and living in France and the USA for almost 25 years, gave me the best of all worlds, one very old, and another very new. I’ve always had three different perspectives on everything growing up, three different opportunities to understand the world around me and to try to make sense of it all. From Ipanema Beach, to the bluest of seas in the Côte d'Azur and Nice, to the wonderful Big Sur. Caipirinha and Feijoada, codfish and Vinho Verde, Daube and Bandol, and the always present Rosé, and…beer for those 110 degree summertime days in Rio! I always worked in the food business, in Paris, Nice and San Francisco. While working at Jules Verne in Paris, I decided to devote my career solely to wines and eventually got my Sommelier certification through the International Sommelier Guild.

2015 De' Ricci Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Review Date: 09-30-2019
There is a perfect word to describe this wine, but it is in French... dépaysant or exotic, different and even unfamiliar (to me). And I loved it! Intriguing aromatics of violets, coffee, fine truffles and oh... prosciutto! A perfect wine to pair with your authentic Italian dinner! Think home made bolognese, game meats, salami, pecorino cheese and truffles, Mamma mia!

2018 Gianni Gagliardo "Fallegro" Roero
Review Date: 09-30-2019
This wine could not have been more aptly named: Fallegro - to make happy/merry - I does indeed make anybody who imbibes it very, very happy indeed! Slightly vivace, with a very easy, pleasing but rich palate. Think of a Vinho Verde, but riper. I kept thinking of fried calamari the whole time we were tasting it!

2016 Erik Banti "Ciabatta" Morellino di Scansano Riserva
Review Date: 09-30-2019
A delicious wine that is all about pleasure! Vinous, with plums, cherry kirsch, and it is never heavy, quite the contrary. I found it very elegant indeed. A great wine and a great buy (my notes exactly when I tasted it)

2016 La Fortuna Rosso di Montalcino
Review Date: 09-30-2019
Incredibly attractive aromatics of cocoa powder, plums and exotic woodsy spices. The palate delivers a very pleasing experience, that follows the nose. La Fortuna Rosso 2016 is stunningly good, and an absolutely no-brainer!

2015 La Gaffelière, St-Emilion 6-pack in OWC
Review Date: 09-23-2019
Dark color, rich, alluring aromatics and a full, complex palate that exudes elegance. Exotic spices, sweet plums, cherries, chocolate and even a delicate note of earth. This wine will most certainly please those who want to drink it now. But as with many Bordeaux wines of this pedigree, it will effortlessly last decades to come.

2015 Branaire-Ducru, St-Julien 6-pack in OWC
Review Date: 09-23-2019
The 2015 Branaire Ducru is a textbook perfect example of a magnificent Saint-Julien. The ripe fruit nose and palate profile is full of cassis, plums, pencil lead and cola. The fruit is framed by its perfectly ripe tannins. It is a very pleasant experience to drink this now, but make no mistake, this wine will easily last another 20 years or more. So, a couple of cases in the cellars, and some bottles on the wine fridge are in order...

1999 Tour du Haut-Moulin, Haut-Médoc (1.5L)
Review Date: 09-10-2019
A perfectly aged bottle (well, actually two bottles, since it's a magnum!) of Bordeaux, that is ready to drink tonight. Classic in style, this wine will surely please those in search for that old school Bordeaux. But also, I think it is a good mature bottle that would be a perfect introduction to those wanting to know what is all about. In any case, a must try!

2017 Pierre Sparr White Blend "One" Alsace
Review Date: 09-10-2019
With beautiful floral aromatics, this blend of Muscat, Riesling, and Pinot Gris is a pleasure to drink. Very delicate on the palate, with all the floral, grapey, fresh peach notes one would expect, but none of the sweetness. It is crisp, dry, but not austere. Pair it with seafood, chicken or pork dishes. Delicious!

2018 Les Roches Sauvignon Touraine
Review Date: 09-09-2019
Nice and zippy, with aromatics that remind me of a softer New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, with lots of elegance. Perfect for appetizers, salads, outdoor events and parties.

2016 Crabitey Rouge, Graves
Review Date: 09-09-2019
The Crabitey has the typical-for-the-vintage abundance of fruit, but also I do think it possess a firm structure of ripe tannins. After a quick passage through a decanter it softens and delivers a classic Graves, with its cassis fruits, spices followed by an earthy edge. It will age nicely in the cellars.

2016 Clos Renon, Bordeaux Supérieur

Another P'tit Bordeaux that impressed me for its quality, approachability, and price. Specially good to take to a dinner party and impress people with your serious good taste!

2017 Gundlach Bundschu "Mountain Cuvée" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend
Review Date: 09-09-2019
With a very unusual blend of grapes, this wine delivers nonetheless in its simplicity and easiness of character. Not to mention it really matches with almost everything really.

2017 Einaudi Dogliani (Dolcetto)
Review Date: 09-09-2019
A beautiful purplish color greets you, followed by floral aromatics along with dark cherries, plums and even blueberries. The palate is very pleasant, and echos the aromatics, but make no mistake, it has structure to balance it all. Just imagine how good this wine will be with a rosemary/garlic bricked grilled chicken... Divine!

2017 Einaudi Nebbiolo Langhe
Review Date: 09-09-2019
This is a perfect introduction to a Barolo or a Barbaresco. It is a classic Nebiolo for sure, a touch floral, with some raspberries and cherries, followed by a firm structure. Perhaps a bit softer than its bigger cousins, and certainly less expensive. A delight to drink right now.

2018 Le Casematte "Peloro" Sicila Bianco
Review Date: 09-09-2019
Very refreshingly light and almost "vivace" on the palate (reminded me of a Txacoli). An intriguing note of salinity, does entice one to a seafood platter! Think, hot weather, sand and mezze food galore!

2018 Casa d'Ambra Ischia Bianco
Review Date: 09-09-2019
A lightly floral aromatic, followed by a delicate palate of stone fruit and citrus, along with a note of salinity, and for those interested, is made from Biancolella grape... Have you ever heard of it? Another must try from our white Italian selection!

2018 Domaine la Colombe Coteaux Varois en Provence Rosé
Review Date: 08-19-2019
Very much a Provençal rosé in its lightness, and approachability. It also has what most people consider the "Provence light salmon color". It is fruity but completely dry!

2016 d'Arce, Côtes de Castillon
Review Date: 08-19-2019
Another great chance to try the fantastic 2016 vintage. The d'Arce is a pleasing, juicy wine with elegant notes of coffee, cherries, plums, with very velvety tannins. Very versatile and completely drinkable from the get go.

2017 Franck Millet "Insolite" Sancerre
Review Date: 08-19-2019
There is something tropical in the air... Insolite is always a riper style of Sancerre that is quite unusual. In some vintages it is almost "unsettling" in a good way. I enjoy this wine very much. Something about the ripe juicy lemons, richness of flavors and accompanying minerality that makes it a memorable wine. I would suggest a more richer fare of for example: Chicken Piri-Piri or Teriyaki, Jambalaya, stir-fries, Thai food, Seafood Pasta, Jambon Persille.

2016 Le Thil, Pessac-Léognan
Review Date: 08-19-2019
A very refined wine, with enticing aromatics of cassis, cherries, cocoa, graphite, and coffee. It is medium body with present but agreeable tannins. Approachable and ready to go!

2016 La Dauphine, Fronsac
Review Date: 08-19-2019
La Dauphine is proudly putting Fronsac in the forefront of the Right Bank, and in my humble opinion outperforming many a Saint-Émilion. Luscious chocolate, cedar, cigar box, coffee bean and vanilla aromatics entice and charm the lucky wine drinker that opens this bottle. The palate is pure velvety ganache, with plums, cocoa powder and a pleasant earthiness. My choice to make an impression at dinner parties.

2009 Brane-Cantenac, Margaux
Review Date: 08-19-2019
One of the best wines I tasted this year so far. Very elegant with incredible pretty floral aromatics, violets, cocoa powder, plum and a touch of menthol. The ripe tannins are very caressing. All comes together with an sweet spicy finish. the epitome of graceful wine.

2016 Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc
Review Date: 08-19-2019
Showing strong Cabernet characteristic, with notes of ripe berries and currents, along with an intriguing note of menthol. This is a tremendous value that should not be missed by those looking to buy some cases of a quality wine to drink within the next 5 or 10 years.

2016 Les Grands Chenes, Médoc
Review Date: 08-19-2019
A generous and full body wine, that is toasty, and with a tremendous amount of fruit. Still, it is balanced and complex. I would suggest decanting for an hour, and indulge with grilled meats and vegetables!

2015 Baron de Brane, Margaux
Review Date: 08-19-2019
The second wine of the prestigious Margaux producer Brane-Cantenac, is a text-book perfect example of what a Margaux should be, floral with notes of violets, as well as lifted aromatics of raspberries, strawberries and cedar. Very elegant indeed.

2014 Tronquoy-Lalande Blanc, St-Estèphe
Review Date: 08-19-2019
A rare white wine made in the heart of the prestigious red wine realm that is Saint-Estèphe! Of course it cannot be labeled as a St-Estèphe, but only as a modest Bordeaux Blanc AOC. But it anything but "modest". Rich, with pleasant aromatics of stone fruits, honey comb, lanolin. The palate is complex and with ripe peaches and glycerol, but with a perfect level of acidity to frame this elegant and honestly really pretty white wine!

2016 Ancient Peaks "Santa Margarita Ranch" Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 07-15-2019
I tend to shy away from those over-the-top, high alcohol, heavily oaked Cabernet wines, regardless of how many points they are awarded. And that's why I enjoyed this wine. Its complexity along with its approachability, makes a perfect pairing with a wide variety of foods. From red meat to roasted vegetables...Perfection!

2018 Domaine Begude Chardonnay "Le Bel Ange"
Review Date: 07-15-2019
The word I have in mind regarding this wine is "delightful." This is an unoaked Chardonnay with its classic melon and pear aromas, but there's something else... Crispy, fruit forward but with a definite core of minerality, true to its "terroir" of Limoux.

2016 Ferrero "Pepita" Rosso di Toscana

2013 Larrivet-Haut-Brion Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
Review Date: 07-15-2019
This is a full, rich white wine, that is showing some development. from a vintage that we tend to forget was actually good for white wines in Bordeaux. On the palate it has very appealing stone fruit, waxy lanolin, an almost oily sensation, followed by honey notes and of course completely dry finish. I would pair it with rich, oily fish, grilled sardines for example for a gourmet paradise!
